a4000/a1200 ide controller..
Hi! Im gonna switch from an amiga1200 to an amiga4000/030 some time soon i think. I use a 1 gig seagate 3.5" disk (the slim model, dont remember the correct name) on the 1200. Have heard that the a1200 and a4000 dont use the same ide controller and that there might be some trouble to use the same disks? Anyone have any experience with this? If this is correct is there any specific types of disks/models that one should avoid for use in an a4000?
Also, the a4000/030 has the same cpu expansion port as the a3000/a4000.040 right? Planning on getting at least a 040 accelerator for the a4000 later.... Regards. |

I have both an A1200 and an A4000 and I have never had any trouble using any harddrive in either of them..
And I have tested many different drives over the years from small 100mb drives to the "old" 10gig drive I use in the 4000 now.. Get a 060 for your 4000, its well worth the price! Best performance possible in the classic world, for me an 040 gets a bit too slow after a while |

Thanks for the quick reply! Good then i hope it will be no problems using my current disk in the a4000. Will be nice to be able to expand the amiga some more...
Then i guess there will be no problems using my current drive in the a4000. Thanks! |
