WinUAE: USB Floppy Drive Compatibility

Hi Toni, I wanted to know if the USB Floppy Drives are supported. I tried to simulate booting the Workbench from the USB Floppy, but the USB Floppy Drive was not detected in the "Harddriver Setting".
Adding the Floppy Drive as Harddisk I had no problem to boot the Workbench from Floppy (formatted FAT16)

Your problem is that USB connected floppy drives are normally unable to read floppy disks written in one of the Amiga standard formats. The included floppy controller in the USB floppy drive is only configured by its firmware to recognize standard PC or MAC floppy formats.

I know very well AmigaOS, Filesystems etc... in any case WinUAE theoretically and practically can start anyway AmigaOS from a FAT support, my experiment shows it, the floppy was started as if it were a HD

My request is of a different nature, I'm referring to WinUAE that doesn't detect "Hardware detection" Hardware Floppy USB Drive.

Pendrive, MemoryCard and MP3 Player USB are detected perfectly

Excuse me Toni. my question might be amazed, I was asking this because I saw a video where Amibian on Raspberry started a game from Floppy USB, now I don't know if it runs an ADF or the contents of a floppy disk

I am not sure whats the exact question but AFAIK PC floppy drives don't appear as HD like direct access devices = "add harddrive" won't work. Disk changes also most likely won't work = mounting it as directory harddrive will sort of work (if FAT formatted disk) but it won't detect floppy changes. USB floppy drives are mostly useless.

Yes Toni I know that USB drives are useless, mine was just an experiment, the problem is that the USB floppy drive in "Harddriver Setting" is not detected.

Mount Volume (FAT16) A: as Directory instead works perfectly in read and write albeit a little slow

How do you do that

You said:

"Mount Volume (FAT16) A: as Directory instead works perfectly in read and write albeit a little slow"

How do you accomplish this in WinUAE? I am trying to gain access to an external 3.5" USB floppy on my system, if I can get WinUAE to use it I may be able to use GOADF to write new Kickstart ADFs to floppy for booting my Amiga 1000.

Thanks.

Harddrives -> Add Directory or Archive -> Select Directory.

The drive is then used as a virtual harddrive, not as a floppy drive.

No, you won't. As explained above, the PC floppy drive is limited to PC format by its firmware. You cannot use it to reformat a disk to Amiga format. No way.
