CDTV laser head replacement.

My cdtv unfortunately does not read cds anymore and my technician told me to find a laser replacement.
Does the laser from A590 match or not?
Where can I find one please?

This is a great question and I hope someone can answer it. Mine works for now but I keep my fingers crossed.

Accordingly to this thread: https://www.amibay.com/forum/want-to...laser-assembly
SF-87 5/12 pins header tape pickup was used in CDTV and A570 - it is uncommon, closest counterpart is SF-87 4/11 pins - quite common but to work it need to be modified and additionally calibrated - not so easy swap...

The main fault in the CDTV CD drive is capacitor failure. You should have the drive electronics recapped before looking to replace the laser. Then to make it read CD-R look to tweak the laser gain using the pots but make a note of their original position. If both these are unsuccessful you can look to get a new laser assembly
