Winuae 1.5.3 menu delay in fullscreen in Vista
When in fullscreen mode and hitting F12 to bring up the menu, it takes half a minute to come up. When in windowed mode it comes up quickly as expected.
Has anyone else seen this problem before? It does not happen on my other computer which also runs Winuae 1.5.3 but is XP Pro. Have not tried any other winuae versions on Vista. If no one has heard of this before, I can post logs - although it might be a gfx driver related issue. Gfx card is Nvidia 9650M GT on laptop. Running Vista Ultimate SP1. |

@thomas
If your delay is only 3 or 4 seconds then I doubt you have the same problem. I have timed it and it is ~35 seconds. @DH |

Not much details as usual.. Which fullscreen mode? filter? no-filter? d3d?
Possibly unrelated question: does screenshot cause delays too? (end+printscreen) |

Ive not had it delayed, but rarther appearing on wrong screen, so ive have to alt tab to find it. Mainly happens in diectx filter mode, not so much in null filter. Also in windowed mode where it has gone behind the active window.

Thanks everyone for checking. It turns out coincidentally that as soon as I turned off indexing and prefetch services in Vista, I no longer have this problem. It now mostly takes 1-2 seconds which is the same as XP. Can take a little longer sometimes on higher resolutions such as 1600x1200x32. The problem was on standard A1200 basic quickstart config, except selecting 3.1 ROM and 800x600x32 fullscreen screenmode (i.e. no filters). Noticed it on a number of other fullscreen resolutions too and also with amikit and amigasys with 1024x768 and 1600x1200. Those on IRC will have known about all my recent Vista performance problems due to the system trying to "help" load programs faster, not to mention the diabolical searching. So problem solved it seems. I will add any more info if it reoccurs. |

You are jumping to conclusions, sorry
I am quite sure I am was not the only one who didn't turn any of off those options and still didn't have any delays. |

Toni, that's why I said it was a coincidence.
Anyway I turned prefetch and indexing back on just to confirm, and the problem is not there! So I cannot reproduce the problem since after I had turned off those services. Could have just been a Vista config somewhere, although those are the only core component changes I had made. Leaving those services off now as they make hard disk activity on boot longer and slow down computer in the middle of programs/games on a few occasions. |
