Does this floppy connector come off?

Don’t want to break it, but it doesn’t seem to want to move.

Seems to be a soldered IDC connector judging by the picture, so don't pull it off, it will break.

Edit: looks like an A1000. I've had a few where the flat cable was permanent with a soldered IDC connector on the motherboard end.

Seems the owner cut the cable for this photo:

So, where does that leave me when it comes to adding a Gotek?

I would use the existing cable to plug it in.

Were you looking to connect both the gotek and the internal drive at the same time? In that case you can extend the floppy cable with a 34 pin IDC cable that has a male connector crimped to one end and two females to the other end.

Ok, thanks, I think that gives me all the words I need to google for parts once my Gotek arrives. I’m probably going to just have the Gotek as the only internal drive.

Be aware that you have to put the male IDC connector on the 'backside' of the cable. I.e. if you lay the cable flat on the table and the two female connectors that attach to the Gotek and Floppy are facing down, the male connector has to be facing up...
