Met up with him and some of the other Slipsteam members in Birmingham, back in around 1990... We had formed a group also called Slipstream down in Bournemouth, and we decided to merge the 2 groups into one Slipstream.

I seem to remember we went to pick up some originals from a supplier in Birmingham city centre, which then Marc cracked and trained back at The Quarterback's house over the weekend, US robotics modem setup downstairs for the fast upload to BBS's

I also seem to remember quite a lot of pubs were visited too

Never knew what happened to Marc after his N.O.M.A.D days... never even knew about what happened to the rest of the Birmingham Slipstream members.

Sounds like fun times Dan. We'd just gotten our first modem in 1990 (we were all still at school at the time) with a view to getting into the BBS scene. We had it for about a week and then my mate was paid a visit by police acting of behalf of FAST who confiscated his gear. They never ended up taking him to trial though, probably because he was only fourteen.

We are missing the early days music disks from Slipstream so it would be nice to finally preserve them. Marc coded them.

Same as Bruno's Music Box 1!!

I had hopes to find them among the BS1 disks, but no luck this time

So Marc was N.O.M.A.D?? Were you trying to get into the BBS scene for financial reasons or as a easy way to get lots of games at the time??

No, we were 2 seperate divisions of Slipstream.

The Bournemouth based crew (that I founded along with a couple of others) were more into making demos. The Birmingham division were more into the cracking / training / spreading side.

This is kind of why I left for Anarchy, as I wanted to be in more of a demo focused group.

We had plenty of access to cracked games, I think it was more that we wanted to make a name for ourselves. We never did beyond the local level and we never did make any money. The odd copy party we had just paid the postage to trade disks. Two guys I remember disk swapping with were Ads of Innercity, who seemed to have absolutely no fear of the authorities whatsoever, and Paw of Crisis (can't remember the spelling?) who I remember had a wife or partner with a very sexy phone voice.

We found their contact details by trawling through disks with disk-x and reading through shit-loads of cracktros. I then dialled the numbers and very politely asked whoever answered the phone if there was anyone in the house who might be interested in trading Amiga software. My mate knew a guy from a team called Scotsoft who traded out of the Barras market in Glasgow, so we had a source of games and software well in advance of their official release dates.
