WHDLoad Problems..
Hi :-)
i don't know if this is the right place to post my problems, so feel free to move my thread in the right section ;-) I have just downloaded, installed and registered whdload for my miggy. I installed lots of games (i downloaded the games from http://www.whdownload.com/) and i found some problems.. I have two big problems.. the first is that most games run too fast.. the second problem is about the audio output.. Infact i noticed that the audio in games like Agony (but mainly with all the Psygnosis's games) is cutted.. To better understand what i mean consider a game with a mod that has 4 channels, well you only heard two of the four channels.. hope you understand what i mean as my english is not so good.. :-) This is my configuration: AMIGA 1200 + PPC 603+ 210Mhz 68040 25Mhz + 256MbRam + Mediator + Voodoo 3 3000 + 16MBSGram + SoundBlaster + Realtek Ethernet Card + Amiga OS 3.9 BB2 OT How can i enter into "the zone" ? /OT |

The files will most likely not be there anymore though. |

I dont remember any major whd issues when I had amiga config similar to yours. You probably already have them set, but an important whd option/tooltype for ppc cards is "nochipcache" which helps alot. Also Setting VoodooInt to 0 will help too. (env:mediator/voodooint), along with making sure any network links are set offline.

Two of the most important things to set when using WHDLoad on a Blizzard PPC board are NoCache & NoMMU.
![]() Out of the thousands of games I use on my BPPC set up the only one I can't get to work is Pinball Fantasies (AGA Version) ![]() |

The 68040 seems to be quite a picky CPU and has had issues reported in the past with some WHDLoad games as well. Just ask Graham

So i have to set:
chipnocache, NoCache, NoMMU in the whdconfig file and VoodooInt to 0 in env:mediator/voodooint right? then i do a reset and hope everything goes fine :-) |

dont rush in with nocache and nommu. They are for if the whd is really misbehaving and on an 040 can end up slowing the game right down to sub A500 speeds.

nocache is ok for games behaving incorrect
nommu should normally not used on '40/60 systems (it will more likely create new problems) |

Also notice that "S:whdload.prefs" is the global configuration file for WHDLoad (load the file into a texteditor and you can read that). I would recommend only to set really necessary options there because it means global (for all games/demos). At least on 68040 NOCACHE is needed for only some games. The goal is to use as few as possible. For example I have to set NOCACHE (solve most problems with games/demos) tooltype in "DeathOrGlory.info" on my 68040.

Have to say I disagree with Mad-Matt & Wepl here about the use of NoCache & NoMMU on my BPPC 060/603 setup.
![]() I've found that enabling these two options for about 85 to 90% of the slaves I've written, is the only way I can get these games to work properly. ![]() Dunno how much of a difference there is between the 040 & 060 boards but certainly from my experience this works for me on the 060 version. ![]() |

I've only written a couple of hundred, but on the quick check I've done on the various sites it looks like folk have already written these before me. (guess thats what happens when you've never been on the net before, until a couple of months ago...)
![]() I'll have to do a more detailed search and if any the one's I've written aren't allready available then I could upload those for folk to use. ![]() |

Being new to all this interweb-net-thingy stuff, I'm a wee bit lost...
![]() Having just set up a website called http://www.commodorescotland.com/ I've been trying to work out how I could make all the software and source code I've written over the years available to anyone who want's to use it. ![]() The only method I've found so far is an online data storage site called . I've added a links page onto the site for folk to download for free anything I put on it. However when I try to download some of the sample WHDLoad slave files I've put up, here on my imac they download but with the extension .txt added to them. ![]() Was wondering if anyone knows of a better online data storage site or if there is a way to fix this. I don't fancy paying the money their asking to go advert free if the downloads don't work properly. Anyone got any advice or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated... ![]() Cheers ![]() Franko Last edited by Franko; 22 September 2010 at 00:21. |

works with FireFox here (no .txt added). Just thought I mention that the .slave file alone is not really helpful. At least a textfile with the needed files (which version etc) would be great

![]() The .txt must be something to do with the way my iMacs set up. The files that I've placed on the site are really only for test purposes just now. I needed to know if things were working ok and that other folk could could download them. Once I have sussed out how everything works and set the site up properly I'll upload the proper versions including text, icons, docs etc... Thanks for checking and for the advice though... ![]() |
