Best games for accelerated Amigas

OK, I did some searching (although I'm sure there will several people pointing out threads I missed) and could not quite find a thread for best games for accelerated Amigas..

With the new batch of ACAs and such, there are now quite a few Amigas that can play whdload games much happier..

But, watching djay's Frontier Elite II vids on before and after accelerated, and of course some of the FPS games I started wondering...

What games should I be trying that might take advantage of an accelerator or more memory?

Of course, there are different levels of accelerators (I have the ACA1230/28) and different levels of acceptability (I seem to be fine with FPS games at 10FPS, where as I know a lot of other people aren't).

But, as a general rule, now that we have faster Amigas with more RAM, are there games that we need to try now that were just too painful before?

Recommendations?

Thanx, just wondering..

Wing Commander is much faster and smoother
i have been looking for any difference in certain games, so i though i should try another 3D one, so grand prix came to mind.... but i can't see a difference

and

daughter played theme park today... still too much lagging(?) when there are a lot of people

Frontier wasnt in WHDLoad... Wing Commander was both, GP and TP were WHDLoad versions

i want either new games that will work on ACA or older accelerators and old games that improve with them both... i tried Castle Master (WHDLoad) and that was way too fast in a straight line!

I'm hoping my new ACA 56Mhz will be able to run Full Throttle via ScummVM AGA

Your 28Mhz one will struggle though, you could try my earlier DOTT port, that might run ok on yours (can't remember if it needs an FPU or not).

I would be very interested in the results of some flight sim's if any of you have time please.

I nearly bought a blizzard the other day but need a little push but frontier is nearly a good reason for me to buy

jay.

The most simulators work very smooth depending on your taste which play, however someone need more than 030 to work fast: Jet Pilot,TFX,Tornado.Anyway if you low the graphics details they are very fast.I like all Rowan simulators.

Simulators outside I would recommend Red Zone (like No Second Prize) pretty funny and underrated,of course ADoom no comments needed,Xtreme Racing a very good clone of Super Mario Kart and the best one: 4D Sports Driving a masterpiece. All very fast with a 030 but try to lose a little graphic detail in some of them.

Genetic Species, Gloom Deluxe and your other 3D Shooters such as Alien Breed 3D/Fears, etc will be much quicker.

You can also emulate Master System 100% using AmiMasterGear - thats right Sonic on your Amiga

All the best.

Steve.

I had it running smooth on 28mhz 030 but it needs AGA

It might even run on a standard (+ Fast Ram) or 25mhz 020, but I imagine very slow.

I'll check the docs later

Steve.

All the Sonics
Rampage
Gauntlet
Wonderboy
Streets of Rage
Sagaia/Darius 2
Solomons key
Golden Axe
Castle of Illusion & Land of Illusion (Micky Mouse)
R-Type

Have fun!!!

Sonic 1 and 2, Bubble Bobble and Outrun, although conversions are pretty decent.
Asterix and Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion are two great platformers
Any Alex Kidd
Wonderboy

And for a curve ball surprise entry Ghostbusters (I really liked this one, spelling mistakes and all!)

You are going to have some fun!

are we talking MS exclusives, because i am guessing games that also appear on Amiga will be a better version if the same?

I listed the duplicate games because some ports are a bit hit and miss, I expect the Amiga versions to be better but they were still great on SMS and worth playing if you're testing. Plus all Master System games have native 2 button support

The SMS version of Prince of Persia arguably had better graphics than the Amiga one...
