SSD in my Amiga 1200
Hello,
does anyone try to use a SATA in the Amiga 1200? I am currently trying two things: 1. SATA 256 GB Sandisk I bought a SATA 44 Pin at Amazon. I could install OS 3.1.4.1 and the Amiga is booting with it. BestWB and Opus is also installed. In the second step I create further Partitions (14 GB; 14 GB). Under WinUAE I would like to copy now my Games Collection to the drive but I always receive after copying some files a read write error. Does anyone has experience with this? 2. mSATA 120 GB Transcend with 44 PIn Adapter Also I installed OS 3.1.4.1 with BestWB and Opus. With this mSSD I have no read write error and could copy everything. But when I connect it, it only works when I have IDE cable with the two connectors and when I connect it to the last one. Problem here is the HDD LED is permanently on and the Power LED gets a bit weaker when the SSD is working. LEDs are the Bifrost Heimdall LEDs. Has someone tried to make a mSATA SSD work before? Thank you for your help in advance. Kind regards |

I would have thought SSD in an Amiga was overkill. CF/IDE probably fast as you need. The computer itself has limitations so no matter how fast your drive is, unless you had an accelerator or something that was able to process data quickly. Avoid.

It is not regarding the speed.
SSD are cheaper and more reliable than CFs. |

SSD in my Amiga 1200
To fix your LED problem you have to install a resistor on the pin 29 of the ribbon cable... I’ll find you the link of a YouTube video with this problem occurring with SD adapter... simple mod.

Thanks so far! So I could work with an mSATA
Hopefully, someone has a idea what is the problem with the SATA. Goal for the future is to us CF only for Data transfer |

Solved the issue via an mSATA to SATA Case and then using SATA IDE Adapterm, 120GB SSD is now running instead of CF

I used Kingspec IDE SSD in the past and tbh it wasn't any faster/better than using a CF 133x CF card, even with a FASTATA it didn't give me any more speed. I liked to think it was more reliable than a CF but I've not had any noteable CF failures other than some really old ones that I used for the PCMCIA adapter. All new CF media I bought and still own works today

It is 1,6 mb/sec on the system partition and 2,4 on second partition.
Blizzard 1230, 32 MB Ram, only using IDE Controller |
