There was also a warm up factor where I would boot the system, let it sit ten minutes or so then reboot and it would work for hours. But I'm the only one that seemed to experience this.

I do remember your suggestions from a year ago or so - I've tried both with cold boots and with warm boots (after 30-60 minutes, but even after some hours) and I still do get the same error every time Which further excludes usual culprits (caps, etc.) since the issues always happen consistently.

The slot order thing did help a bit - on some slots I get a straight up freeze, while on others the M1 (sorry, I do have an M1 and not a K1, just checked) gets the RAM added (which I suppose is a good sign?) but I just get a ramlib error and the system freezes as soon as I try opening more windows. Stackattack and friends didn't help - I even remember trying sashimi in hopes of getting some debug output but sadly I got nothing

have you tried initilising the ppc card using a minimum setup? ie. booting into no startup-sequence and using a small script which executes setpatch, copies env-archive to ram:env, runs the voodoo monitor driver (or radeon if that's installed), then starts initippc?

Yep, exactly the same thing happens - either on minimal startup or normal AmigaOS.

I mainly used 3.9 for my testing (since it seems it's what most people use), I decided to give 3.1.4 a shot, but I saw no improvements. Still the same issues and errors.

Wasnt the 4000D v1 mediators subject to Mach update as with 1200 version?

And do you have any other PCI cards to put in the last slot, SCSI or Sound regardless of whether there are drivers for them?

Yes, I do have a bunch of different PCI cards from my vintage PCs stack. It's mostly PCI Soundblasters, one Fortemedia 801, a lot of SCSI cards (mainly Adaptec) and an embarrassing number of PCI Ethernet cards.

I've tried with Voodoo 3 / M1 / LAN / Soundblaster to fill all the slots in the hope that it would change something (it looks like there were some issues with PCI termination, if I remember correctly?) but it didn't. Same issues.

So since the building of my AA3000+ is well underway, I was wondering, what software/firmware/logic should be programmed in the Firebird CLPD/FPGAs? The one Hese provided, or other ones to make the PPC cards work? Thanks!

Is that the file linked from "new firmware" on here http://www.e3b.de/prometheus/ ?

And is the 3.1 library listed here the one to use? https://warpclassic68k.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html

hese will load the firestorm firmware if you ask him. He did for me. I have a wireless PCI network card working on mine alongside the Voodoo 3 in my AA3000+. Using the Prism2 driver from Aminet. It doesn't appear to use DMA though. It is not fast - it tops out at about 100kb/sec with the wireless PCI card.

Note that for DMA support you absolutely *need* a Voodoo 3 PCI card. I believe the Realtek 8139 network card will use DMA. I think Wrangler got a USB PCI card working, although I couldn't get mine to work - it has a different chipset).

I have 3 voodoo3s so that's fine, from pinpointing my issues with my a4k The apocalypse and a bunch rtl8139 I believe. And maybe a terratec soundcard, wasn't that supported as well? Oh wait, there're only 3 PCI slots. Well maybe the soundcard is not needed if the DSP is brought to live. For USB I'll use a zorro card.

I tried two different Soundblaster Live! cards but the most I got out of one of them (that works in my Amithlon computer fine) was a off-tone beep. I couldn't get any music or anything else out of it.

Soundblaster Live (Emu10k) has never been confirmed as working on any classic Amiga PCI bridges, either Mediator or Prometheus.

FM801 is supposed to work on Prometheus, has anyone tried it with Firestorm?

I have an FM801 but it's in my GREX, I guess I could try it in the AA3000+ w/Firestorm...

Quick question I am hoping someone can answer before I waste any more time/money. Unfortunately the PPC chip on my cyberstorm has just died and Stachu thinks it is not possible to fix. I recall reading somewhere in this thread that you couldn't have a sonnet installed with a cyberstormPPC which is understandable.

The 68k side of things side works but presumably the onboard ROM still thinks it should be a PPC. I am hoping to source another apocalyse card and I am just wondering if it will be an issue installing with the cyberstorm?

There is no PPC specific stuff in a ROM on the CS, unlike the Blizzard, I think. I have run the sonnet next to a CSPPC card. The PPC on an CSPPC is only activated when you install real WOS.

Thanks Hedeon.

That is great news and slightly softens the blow of the demise of the cyberstorm. I was pretty gutted when it died.
