Not enough memory for DPaint anim
I have a strange problem: I have two Deluxe Paint versions in my Amiga: 4.02 and 4.6 (AGA). Both work great, but if I want to set #frames for animation in v4.02, it tells I have not enough memory for animation (no matter how many frames I try to set). I have free 1,8MB chipmem (and 63 megs of fastmem) at that moment.
The same operation in v4.6 works normally, but I prefer v4.02 for some reasons. Does anybody have any idea what could cause that issue? Amiga 1200 plus B1230-IV. |

As far as I remember, it doesn't matter how much Fast RAM you have, DPaint would store the frames only in Chip RAM, but I can't be sure right now.
This could have to do with how much the requested frame is taking up in memory, or just simply a bug. Try doing the same on a smaller and lower bitplane screen and see what happens. |

I have the same DPaint4.02 for years and it had always worked across all my Amigas. It just stopped to work now. I use 320x256 32 colors. It is really strange.

Think of anything that could have changed in your system and that probably is the culprit for the sudden change. Any add-ons, extensions, hacks, upgrades? last I would think is a physical memory fault.
Try to Snoopdos the hell of it and see what's up. |

SnoopDOS is quiet with this, it only tells that the system opens Dpaint8 font and thats all. I also tried to boot my Ami without startup-sequence to check if there is not something rotten in my OS, but the error message is still the same.
But I maybe found a problem: I have Kickstart 39.106 and Workbench 40.42. That could cause some weirdness, maybe. |

Solved. It is almost unbelievable, but the problem is caused by Blizzard 1230-IV!!!
Deluxe paint works from v4.1 correctly with this card. Paradox is, that older versions work without any problems with often critisized M-Tec 1230 turboboards ![]() |

Just wanted to say,
When i have done big animations via winuae on dpaint i set it to 32mb chip and 0 fastram. Off the top of my head once you increase chip mem you cant add fast, Doesnt matter as dpaint only uses chip mem for anims. How did the blizzard card cause issues? |
