Good deal on A1200? Yes? No?
I found a greate site to buy spare processors, ram, soundcards ect. Its called "WWW.AMIGAKIT.COM".
Then I saw the option to have an A1200 built to order! £79.99 for the basic package. 3.1 software. Mouse. Refurbished hardware. Basic A1200 config. Or I could spill out alot more and have a harddrive, 8mb of memory expansion, new hardware, and OS 3.9. Adds about an extra £140.00 on the price. Good deal? Or Can I get a better one somewhere else? Help please! (Yes my spelling is very bad!) |

you can get a better deal in eBay but the catsh is that since the items are used, they have no warranty whatsoever and you must trust the seller for it's "working condition" many have bought stuff that are broken and many like myself have also bought great stuff... if you can afford it and want to have some peace of mind, go with amigakit. I too have payed more for stuff for the sole reason that they would be 100% OK. It's all about personal opinion

Built to order?? That's hard to believe. Where are they getting the parts? I was shocked to see there's a Canadian "store" and even more shocked to see you can get "new old stock" A1200s. I noticed on the "build to order" you can get an NTSC A1200, but for power supply it is UK or none.
It looks like a good deal if you don't want to have to screw around on eBay and get all the parts separately. You might get lucky and find an A1200 on eBay with everything you want (..then get outbid at the last second). The cheapest would be if you find an accelerated A1200 at a garage sale somewhere, but what are the odds of that? (anybody that lucky should pull the horse shoes out of his ass. ) |

yeah built to order is hard to believe, thats why I was asking. But it seems reliable and trust-worthy. I'm gonna save all my pennies and buy one! if I do, then I'll have all the amiga Keyboard Computers!
But first, I'm gonna have to find a job. I tried over and over, but no good, I have to be 16 for at least 9 months. What the hell are they going on about? Anyway, I'm gonna get a job at the local pizza place after christmas. If it hasn't allready been taken. Then i'll buy on of those A1200 with all the trimings! And ya know, maybe some turntables and such. |
