ghouls n ghosts st port?

Hi guys, i thaught for over 20 years this game was an st port!

Today i start to wonder if it's not the way around, i mean the st version could

actually be an amiga port...What make me think this way?

The st version got a smaller screen size and some feature of the amiga version got

also missing, but the frame rate is 25 fps on both so.....

I'm actually outraged that software developers, upon first getting hold of an Amiga, thought it was just an ST clone and identical in hardware, or they just couldn't be bothered getting hold of the technical manuals or just wanted to do things on the cheap.

My ST-owning friend (who constantly berated me for owning a "crappy Amiga") must've been as pleased as punch in the early days of the late 1980s because the Amiga was kept on its knees by the inferior ST for so long (it's one of the main reasons I've never been into Amiga games, and I've owned both machines), and he must've been gutted when he saw Beast blow everyone away with what the Amiga should've been doing all along. Formerly a ZX Spectrum owner as well, it's probably the reason his family went for a PC in the end.

I think the latter part of your comment is more accurate. This was the time when the home computer games industry started going all business-like and doing things 'properly.' This led to coders being forced into unrealistic timescales and strangling the creativity and metal-banging that really pushed the Amiga and gave us great games. Why spend money re-developing a game that has already been done on similar hardware. Much better to get it out quick and improve the bottom line! Sad....

Thankfully there were still some developers who REALLY wanted to make great Amiga games
