The chip isn't needed for a standard case, only tower conversions which use an ATX style momentary switch.
Neater than either though is to buy the appropriate plug for the A4000, remove all the spare wires from the ATX PSU, and fit the new plug in place of the ATX connector, remembering to leave the wires for the power switch free so that you can connect them to something (I swapped the power button on my ATX case with a turbo button from an old AT machine, and fitted a little plug to the end of the power wires to make removal of the PSU easy) |

Hi
Ive got one of these, brand new i bought off a friend. My 4000D power supply still works, but im having some stability issues so i thought ill try this adaptor out. But the amiga wont boot, just grey screen with atx and adaptor. Tried 2 atx power supplies now one 185w and the other 450w. Go back the original 4000D power supply and it will boot. Measured the voltages on the end of the adaptor and everything is in the right place. Any ideas? |

Ok tried 3 atx power supplies now, even took the 4000D board out and measured the voltages on the underside of the motherboard just to make sure its making contact and it is
loaded up the power supply with 3 hard drives still nothing (dark gray screen caps lock lights up they off) connected all the 5v rails on the motherboard connector (like i have to do with 1200 to make the power supply stay on) - nothing (dark gray screen caps lock lights up they off) plug in original power supply and it works Im out of ideas, putting it back together |
