Pinball Dreams - inspired by real tables!

After playing Terminator 2 pinball on my PS3 and Iphone, the table struck me as almost identical to Nightmare, my favorite table from Pinball Dreams. And indeed, as Stuart Campbell pointed out years ago, at least 3 of the 4 Pinball Dreams tables were heavily inspired by real table designs:

Nightmare - Terminator 2
Steel Wheel - Bad Cats
Beat Box - Bride of Pinbot

Who knew?

I finally figured out the inspiration for Ignition. It is Space Station by Williams! I realized it recently after Space Station was added to Pinball FX 3 on Switch. When you start a game on Space Station, a sample even announces “Ignition!”. It couldn’t really be more obvious.

So the complete list is
Ignition - Space Station
Nightmare - Terminator 2
Steel Wheel - Bad Cats
Beat Box - Bride of Pinbot

I was literally playing Pinball Dreams for the first time in probably 25yrs or so, yesterday with the girlfriend. It's such a good game. I preferred it over pinball fantasies for sure. The music, the tables etc.

My favourite table is also nightmare. Really interesting it's a copy of the Terminator 2 table! I'll have to find a picture of that now!

You can tell from my saved scores on the disk that nightmare is my most played, as all my scores are still on the disk and working fine.

For the other 3 tables, my highest scores are at best around 9-12 Million.

Nightmare however, 156 Million!

There is even a PSP version of Pinball Dreams. It was one of the PSP minis

The ball looks a bit different on PSP though, I prefer the original game.

I just tried it again on my PSP. The table gfx are a bit different, too. The crosses on the bumpers on Nightmare are not upside down anymore. Maybe an upside down cross was too controversial for them lol?!?

EDIT: On all console versions of Pinball Dreams, the crosses are upright and not upside down anymore. How stupid is that.

The upside down cross is a screenshot from the Amiga, the upright cross image is from GBA. PSP also has the upright crosses. Meh.

Nothing wrong with the Petrine cross. It's not like it is an upside-down crucifix. But what do SJWs know these days.
