600 psu for ami1200?

Can i use a 600 psu for the 1200 i'm about to get? I've been using it with a 600 +hd, I'd like to use it with a 1200 + HD + extra mem.
It smells a bit hot when I'm using it, and I've read that it could end up being a bit of a disaster. Please inform...
it says it has outputs of;
5V-3A
12V-500mA
-12V-100mA

Should be fine. I use all my A500/600/1200 PSUs interchangably. In fact, one of my 1200s came with a PSU marked A600 PSU. But you might want to wait for some expert advice from other EAB members...

Also my accelerated A1200 (with a 3.5" HD) is attached to an A500 PSU (the 1200 one died some years ago...) It also powers a squirrell and 2 attached FDs.

AFAIK the bigger A500/600 PSUs are better than the newer 1200 PSUs.

Why did they even MAKE more powerless PSU's than the A500 one? Makes no sense....

C= cutting corners probably. You can't repair a 1200 PSU - if you remove the case the whole thing is set in some sort of resin. (I thought we might have had a blown fuse or something...)

aye, well I think the 500 psu can take more load than the other 2, I just don't want to kill my new 1200, if it ever arrives
