Multiple HAM8 pictures?

Not really a 'problem' as such but I was quite interested in doing this...

I was wondering what the likelyhood of being able to show two different images in HAM8 mode at once was?

After displaying the first, would then displaying the second picture (as a sort of picture-in-picture) alter the original image on display?

Yes.

To minimise fringing you would have to calculate the position of your 2nd picture carefully and manipulate the colours of edge pixels appropriately. If this is for a demo, two fixed pictures and a fixed location you could do it off-line. If the 2nd picture has to move or if it is for an application where the pictures are variable then you'd have to calculate it realtime.

If it is more of a split screen, one in the top half of the screen, the other in the bottom half then there is no problemo.

ah I see....

So the HAM picture utilises the two(?) left pixels to try and create the current pixel? Is that why a border would help?

I'd probably be overlaying a much smaller picture over the top of a larger picture so that most of the background picture is still mostly visible.

If the whole process is going to be too slow to update on a frequent basis it's probably not worth me looking in to.

If you were thinking about using it for moving pictures, (like an MPEG or AVI) forget it, or live with the fringing.

No I wasn't thinking of mpeg or avi.

I was thinking of a HAM8 backdrop and when you highlight different menu items they show a different screengrab of each item. So it's not THAT frequent
