Question OS3.9 install

dont know if anyone's seen this - looked in the faq's & didn't see it there.

Anyway, trying to install OS3.9, using KS3.1 roms, latest WinUAE with AIAB already installed; run the install_emu option and it starts up OK, but then craps out with a script error.

Anyone else seen this, and if you have, how do I fix it! Coz I want that OS3.9 on UAE right now

Ah, I see you're from UK, so you couldn't have read this.
It was in German "amiga-news.de" forum. Same issue, same report.

Toni, this is confirmed by another user now. It's really a WinUAE problem. Apparently, it did work with an older version.

I'd like to get more information about this problem before starting debugging.. (for example what kind of error, when it happens etc..)

Eek

Well, this would take me a LOT of time to reproduce, I think...

I only have 3.5 but not 3.9, and I don't have AIAB (except 1.06 )
And no, I'm NOT going to request an AmigaOS 3.9 here, not even just for so-called "testing purposes" ...

There are a few versions of OS 3.9 to install, and some of them doesn't work ok.

Anyway, I successfully managed to install a release of OS 3.9 on WinUAE (with and without AIAB) and on Amithlon as well.

If allowed contact me for more details on how to grab this release...
I could even upload it to the Zone, but I think it is not the case...

Please consider that I actually bought Amiga OS 3.9 (apart from my disappointment realizing that it is a tiny update of Workbench 3.1).

As a WinUAE user, none can use this OS for productivity tasks, but just for fun.
I definitely want all of you to evaluate it before actually buying it. Any other action is up to you....

Do not tell me to respect anyone...I wonder who is still developing for us ATM... maybe the only one is Toni.

heh, i dont think so, maybe you think of it as just a small update for Wb3.1, but I think its good and maybe the best that can be done without making new rom bricks .. (3.9 roms.. )

im not a blind follower of anything labeled amiga, but, I think the new OS updates are very important ..

And amiga OS 4 is in the works .. (by the exellent hyperion team)..

Don't know about that Kriz. I prefer my Workbench 3.0 setup running the free Scal-OS combined with various aminet addons such as the fantastic MUI, MCP, SFS etc to OS 3.9. It runs faster, uses less resources and is much more powerful from the off (I have it zipped for easy re-install). All this with basic 3.0 ROMS.

I know many other Amiga users have happily made their own fantastic WB setups that are better or equal in most areas than the default OS 3.9. Perhaps that's why some see it as only a small update to the older versions.

I firmly believe they could have done better with OS3.9. If it didn’t convince me to update then others must also feel the same.

Hopefully OS 4 will be the works and I'm ready to buy if that's the case.

Exclamation

Hey, please end this discussion so that the thread hasn't to be closed.

Now I suggest to let us focus on the emulator problem while installing OS 3.9 and not get into this extremely tedious pro-con talk about this juristical "conscience conflict" shit over and over and over again!
This includes letting the conversation devolve sooner or later into mere personal hostilities because of some people reproaching some others with (allegedly) being the culprits and killing the Amiga - and stuff! No, thanks.:theparano
So peace, peeps. Thanks.

You´re right @andreas It just pisses me off that some people think that just because the Amiga is "nearly" a dead system (so DO some people REALLY think) all those software could be copied as they wish to ......

And btw. I don´t think I can help on this issue, I just ran the installation from my OS 3.9 CD and it run through without any error (I don´t have an INSTALL_EMU script on my CD btw.) ! Here´s the pic of the freshly installed OS 3.9, I just added some colors and made the resolution 640x512 .... nothing more was done ..... works really fine and fast here ....

Whahey!
This looks LOVELY!

This is like paradise if you imagine a coarse A500 resolution next to it
So probably the dude who wrote that script is to blame, not WinUAE.

@Syko

Could you please post the INSTALL_EMU Script and the exact error message you get ? I will rewrite the script then, so it fits your needs !
