Classic WB
I like Classic WB Lite's speed and functionality, and familiar Workbench menu structure. But I don't like the look of Magic WB on a 1024x768 256 colors. So I want to install the look of Classic WB P96 specfically the collection of glow icons. ( I have an A4000 with CV64). But I don't like the unfamiliar Scalos workbench.
Should I start off with Classic WB Lite and install the Glowicons used in Classic WB P96. If so how? OR Is it possible to disable Scalos and P96 with Classic WB P96? Thanks in advance. |

How about running the Classic Workbench OS3.9 pack? No Scalos there and it runs very well indeed. I'm using it on my A4000 with PicassoIV and have 040 @40mhz.
I don't think you could take Scalos off the P96 pack but I can tell you that pack works fine on a real Amiga as I use it on my A1200T which has a Voodoo/Mediator setup and its lightling fast, even when I was using just a Blizzard 1230MkIV Steve. |

I don't like the double reset on cold boot with 3.5/3.9. Can this be disabled-I have no hard drives>4gig.

You can't disable Scalos without losing much of the functionality.
Yes in OS35/9, the double boot can be disabled in the startup-sequence easily. Can't remember off-hand, something like adding NOROMUPDATE or NOSCSI to SETPATCH, but it's pretty obvious how to do it when looking at the Startup-Sequence. Last edited by Bloodwych; 05 October 2010 at 10:54. |

Dosen't OS3.9 need its custom patched 3.9Rom for other features or is it only patching the SCSI? In that case can it be safely disabled? I only have a 2gb CF in my A4000 at the moment. Not that the boot time bothers me

If you look at the startup-sequence, it disables the SCSI ROM update if other devices are present. It's purely to cover >4GB support. I'm sure if you are using <4GB, you can safely disable the ROM update or at least the SCSI part of it which requires the restart.
So you may be right, but if you disable the SCSI part of the ROM update, it doesn't reboot I think. Again, I don't have my main PC to check before posting, so I'm sure someone can correct me! |
