The spitefulness gets deeper when a guy who built for the world is accused of being racist. Funny that whenbyoubwant to steal others work. Thanks steve for keeping the dream alive and bound you have been found and called out. This is not what the Amiga is about so lets put it behind us. Any products sold by bound are not TF they are fakes if you have one of the bound made ones let steve know and ask for refund from bound.

Also looking less likely now that a TF4060 will happen (which was a long-term plan).

And proof of the accusations has been added to that thread.
All the parts from TF536 were off-the-shelf parts without any special patent assigned to Stephen Leary, hence it's in danger from look-a-like IBM 5160 clone wars e.g. https://i.imgur.com/OLQYefT.jpg

Look-a-like IBM 5160 clone doesn't have IBM's registered logo and trademark.

Bound's main error is using Stephen Leary's name.

There's a reason why Apple parts has unique part id list for each iOS device and this list encrypted with the iOS instance.

I rather use GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL3) style instead of GPL 2.0 i.e.
1. Open source non-commercial.
2. License when commercial.
3. Rename the open source project with another name (e.g. OpenFire) instead of the using commercial name(i.e. TerribleFire).

Use DRM protections (e.g. basic encrypted firmware) since the laws related to DRM are toughter.

Without a special custom chip, it didn't stop X86 PC clone wars. IBM BIOS was the main defence against cloners.

hint: it is a very much "custom" chip as the "code" in it is your custom code.. a cpld is actually like a small fpga. so you tell it how the chip should look like. so very much custom.

FPGA's firmware is like a BIOS i.e. low level software. Note why I stated IBM BIOS was the main defence against cloners.

Without IBM BIOS's functions, Intel 8088 based hardware is not IBM PC compatible clone e.g. pure MS-DOS computers which are not compatible with an IBM PC.

"The right to repair" with clone parts is the counter-argument i.e. Toyota parts vs clones.

you know that you can compare a cpld like a blank chip-die?

actually chipdesigners quite usually uses FPGAs (as they are larger than a cpld) to design their chips. before implementing it on a chip..

Hopefully one of these bad boys will have the MIPS to run DOSBox AGA a bit faster than my old Blizzard 1260 could manage...

I actually had a bit of a brainwave on the toilet earlier, as rev 6 060's are getting so hard to find these days someone should make a simple CPU socket adapter FPGA board that would allow people to use either a real 060 or an FPGA equivalent, then everyone would be happy
Also, there's Vampire 1200's 68080.

The V1200 is not the "060 A1200 board market" it is a different thing. those who are looking for a 060 solution surly will not look at the "080"..

AMD's K12 ARMv8 clone has existed as Verilog (IEEE DHL).

so?
there are several other CPU solutions as verilog or whatever..

still that code IS the custom thing and could be taken as a custom chip..
and that is my point. onlu thing is that noone needs to do special ASICs that are extremly expensive.

As an end user, I don't see any major differences when both 68060 and 68080 are classic Pentium class level CPUs.

68K at Pentium II level would be welcome.

I have my own Amiga 1200 Rev 1D4 waiting to be expanded and higher clocked 68060 beyond 50Mhz or 68080 is desirable. I can source my own 68060 CPU.
My Amiga 1200 is currently being re-capped.

if you do not see the differences I guess you simply are a "V1200" person..
as if you are into a 060 solution. you know why you do not want an Vampire.. simple.

PII level. well. that train left over 25 years ago...

The Amiga community has time and time again respected and given you props, Stephen, for what you have done. Making this one asshole so important that you decide to retaliate against him in a way that hurts everyone, like if the Amiga community is in any way responsible for the actions of one idiot, is a slap on the face of those who always supported you.

Please reconsider. By all means go at this dude's throat, and make everything close-sourced, but don't punish the Amiga community for the actions of one imbecile.

I'm already aware of FPGA being used to prototype chips since both FPGA's DHL and ASIC DHL software tools are similar and there's 3rd party services that can convert FPGA DHL data into an ASIC.

Without programable microcode engine block, ASIC is hard to change when bugs are discovered.

Both AMD and Intel encrypts their CPU microcode updates, hence they are protected by DRM laws.
