replacing the A500 Keyboard

As A500's are getting on a bit now and mine is starting to fail ie keys stop working... i was wondering if its possible to connect an Amiga 1200 keyboard to the A500 via some kind of home made adapter board? There is some info on aminet of going the other way ie a500 to 1200 but not a 1200 keyboard connecting to an A500.

You can buy a conductive rubber trteatment kit that will repair the traces and pads on keyboards, remotes etc, works really good

if you want a cheap solution, shave the lead (graphite) from a pencil, then dab the affected pads into the graphite, blow off excess then retry... i've done this successfully quite a few times,

The problem is that the y key displays z and the z key displays y! but when i plugged a 1200kb into the kb controller on the a500 kb it still has the same problem... so i guess the controller isnt working correctly.
