ClassicWB future updates......

It's been a long time since I updated these packs, last xmas infact as per usual.

Here is a preview of what's included when the new releases go live:
  • AWebb default settings optimized
  • Assign system for games, demos and system drawers simplified
  • Latest WHDLoad
  • iGame art pack optimized for 640x256 and 640x512 (user selectable option)
  • Large Hard Drive Support for Workbench 2.1-3.1
  • kgiconload added to Dopus
  • Overscan prefs removed - all screens default size (640x256, 640x512)
  • MUI Prefs replacements removed from ADV ADVSP (Time prefs bugged)
  • ClassicWB LITE now has full MUI install (had hybrid support before)

Tutorials
  • Youtube vids recorded for adding extra partitions and activating Large HD support
  • Web Page updated
  • Large HD EAB Thread re-wrote to reflect new >4GB support

To do:
  • New KGLoad and Artpack
  • iGame repository scan fixed

Some really nice changes. Any suggestions are welcome here, I'll read but I can't gurantee I'll include them as I'm lazy.

No release date set. When it's ready it's ready. I want this pack complete with KGLoad and Artpack and hopefully a fixed iGame, therefore no set date.

Compact Flash PCMCIA adpaters support
Using fat95 instead of CrossDos for PC floppy support (long filenames)
Full screen shell (check out mss or screenshell on aminet)
Add Autodocs so that Scout can use them
Some nice backgrounds that would take advantage of the copper effect (I posted a screenshot while back in a different thread)

more to follow... (need to sober up

I really appreciate these packs, they are great "plug and play" setups. I am currently using your Lite version on my real A1200 and the GAAE on the A600.

Will you continue to do/support Kickstart ROM 3.0/WB 3.0 versions as well?

Good luck with the project!

Great news!!!

Some suggestions:
- add-on for install AmiTCP with WIFI or LAN via PCMCIA card.
- add-on to support CF0: (w/fat95) via PCMCIA SD reader card.
- add-on to move default Games and Demos folders to other HD partition.

They are things that I made allways in every ClassicWB update

Thanks

Juan

This is already possible, but has been made much simpler in the new v25 packs.

In the current packs, you have to change a number of Assigns in multiple startup files:

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/tutorials.htm

In the new packs, you only have to change one "assign-startup" file.

Thanks for your pm by the way, your emulators are a great suggestion.

As for the rest of you, thanks for putting forward ideas in the suggestion box. I'll see what I can do for the next release. Fat95 (long filename) and CF0: support seem like a must these days.

Absolutely! Workbench 2.1, 3.0, 3.1 will always be supported.

I hope to drag 3.9 out of the beta stage too for the next release, but my passion is for the original "Classic Workbench".

Your 3.9 beta still has the "Classic" feel about it Bloodwych...i'm dead impressed.

It runs very nicely on my 1200T setup.

Looking forward to the finished one.

yep I acn`t wait for a proper 3.9 version as well

what I`d like to see is a smaller set of draws ie not as tall as the ones you use at the moment, something like the ones that come with magic workbench is it, name slips my mind at the moment

think the fat95 is a nice idea

I was trying to figure a way to use the mouse wheel to scroll standard folders on your ClassicWB on WinUAE under the A1200 config when I was advised to ask if it could be something which could be added in the next update?

EDIT: Can something also be added to use the scroll wheel to scroll docs and other stuff?

I just wanna add again how much ClassicWB friggin rules!

Doesn't ScalOS support mouse whell window scrolling?

Ticking RDB-mode when creating HDF files for the different ClassicWB flavours (for people wanting to boot from a CF PCMCIA adapter)

Are there any guidelines for people wanting to create expansion packs?

If you want to submit something to be a user selectable option or addon pack, just create a zip pack with the files and correct directory structure, so that when it's unzipped in the root directory, it places all the files in the correct place. I don't mind adding the zip to the install procedure.

The problem lies with the support files. It would need to contain new Scalos menu and Button Menu files to add access and the extra functionality, correct icons for a particular Workbench theme, correct Startup-Sequence files if lines need adding etc.

I suggest placing a zip archive in the zone containing files people want included, with the correct directory structure outlined above and icons, then I can have a look at it.

ClassicWB has Freewheel installed to handle this and Click-to-Front, but I'm not sure it's capable of everything you've requested.

Make sure it's enabled. It's under the top menubar, "Tools->Freewheel", and can be accessed from the Run Icon, "Settings->Components".

It has some prefs options.

It sounds like you want to use OS3.9 with a 640x256 low res screen. The problem is some of OS3.9 requesters won't fit onto such a low resolution!

The current OS3.9 pack uses the standard "Glowicon" style that is the default for 3.9, so that's what I stuck with.

I don't think there is a decent half-height Glowicon/Newicon set that works like the ones I use for normal icons in the GAAE, 68K, LITE and FULL, which are basically half-height Magic Workbench style normal icons.

Just looking at FAT support; which is best?

Fat95.lha (FAT16 only)
msd95v16.lha
fatfs_0.3.lha
giggledisk.lha

Perhaps there are more, just had a quick look.

Also Fat95 docs mention a MUI mount tool for mountlists:

aminet/disk/misc/fatmounter.lha

but it's nowhere to be seen! Perhaps it was pulled?
