Puzzle / platform game

I've been searching all over for this game...

* You control a little blue wizard with a pointed hat, seen from the side.
* No enemies (as I recall)
* You can create/remove stone blocks with your wand.
* One screen/level.
* I think the objective was to get a ball to an exit.
* Can't have been written later than '90, possibly '91.
* Graphically, not totally unlike Solomon's Keys. But it was more in a blue/gray color scheme.

While I'm at it, another game. Remember very little about it, though.
* Platformer, vertical scrolling mostly (you often went downwards in the levels)
* '90 or '91
* Think it was written by a demo group.
* _Great_ music
* Pretty large sprites.
* One level was in an ice cave or the like.
* Was the main character a mouse? Not sure at all, but might've been.
A long shot, but you seem to know about most Amiga games...

Thanks a lot for any pointers!

Happy

Yesyesyesyes! Incredible how fast that reply was!
Any chance of getting hold of it? (Having trouble with Pe2000.net, and TheDreamZone requires a password).
Thanks a lot!

Rat Trap was from Audiogenic and is kind of similar to Bubble and Squeak - maybe it uses the same engine?

No, not Rat Trap... I actually think there was no background graphics behind the platforms/ladders etc - just black. The graphics weren't as "chubby" either.

As for "engine" - I'm pretty sure the game was from a demo group, so they would hardly have had access to a commercial engine?

BTW, it's gotta be impossible for an ordinary guy like me to get into the Zone (if one has to upload a new game) - I think all my old Amiga disks are broken. Could there be anywhere else I could find spherical (BTTR didn't have it, amigaemulation.de pointed me to PE2000.net but I couldn't find it there, Chuck doesn't have it)... Boohoo.

As far as I could tell playing it (and back then, when I got it, I played almost the entire game) it's exactly the same game. I never learned the story behind why this game circulated and then, maybe less than a year later, is released as Krusty's (Super) Fun House. Everything is the same except for the sprites. Anybody have any info on this?

I saw a game on Sega Genesis (can't remember the name) wich was EXACTLY Turrican 1 from Factor 5 except they changed the title and the main sprite look (but still same animation).

Also I remember a Mac Donald's Game on Amiga wich was quasi the same as an other game from the same developpers (Shiny Entertainemnt).

This is just $$$ shit...

Seems to be the game Universal Soldier I mentioned in the thread 'Same game, different name'.

Shiny Entertainment? Did they do ANYTHING on the Amiga?

The only two McD games on teh meega are :

McDonald's Land (a.k.a. Mc Kids on the NES)
Global Gladiator

The last one looks very similar to all the other Virgin platformers of the time (did tehy use the same engine? Look at Global Gladiatoprs, Cool Spot and Aladdin, and you'll see what I mean. Same goes with Core and their games Wonderdog and Chuck Rock 2), but I dont think they were made by Shiny

FWIW, the full name of "Global Gladiator" is

Mick & Mack - Global Gladiators

This'll make the search easier for this game on public "rom" sites.

It might increase the odds since TOSEC has decided that is the name of the game, but it's simply not true. The title screen on the actual game says: Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators, but that is not the full title, either. Nor is Start Game, Options in the title. If you look at the box art, it simply says Global Gladiators (even on the sticker, it says Global Gladiators - Amiga.) I believe the cover art can be seen at Exotica. Even the Sega Genesis version only says Global Gladiators. Very often, additional text will appear either on the box or title screen that is misleading about the actual game title (forcing me to research it...) and unfortunately, TOSEC is responsible for spreading some real doozies! They have the game Prison listed as Prision, Trump Castle II is listed as Trump Castle 1.3, F-29 Retaliator is listed as Retaliator, Crime Time is listed as It's Time For Crime Time, Beach Volley is listed as Ocean Beach Volley, the three Star Wars games are all listed with Star Wars as the title's prefix (which is absolutely not the case!), etc.

Needless to say, the upcoming EAB database will contain the correct infos on all of this stuff. And before anyone asks, it's coming soon...

Rat Trap

Rat trap was going to be a full commercial release by Audiogenic, Acclaim got the licence for Krusty, and basically bought Rat Trap from Audiogenic, changed the character, changed the name, new game.

Hence why you will never find a reference for the game on Audiogenics site, because 'officially' the game doesn't exist as it was not ever commercially released as Rat Trap.

And you thought magazine reviewers were honest? (Thats where Rat Trap was leaked from)

Thanks Galahad - I have been searching for that detail for some time now. Does that mean that the Krusty game originated on the Amiga, then?
