Full games with magazines

What are your favourite full games (PD and non-PD) given away with the old Amiga magazines?

If you can please name magazine and issue.

Dogfight (PD) still gets a regular run out at my games nights. It was on CU Amiga's August '97 issue apparently. Still have the floppy at home.

Just before I received my first Amiga, I bought Zero issue 21 (July 1991), which came with the full version of Steel.

Needless to say, the anticipation and promise of this game didn't match up to the reality when I was finally able to play it.

In more recent times, Amiga Future have included many full versions on their cover CDs - Zeewolf, Nemac IV, Foundation: Director's Cut, at least one of the Dizzy games, and many more I can't think of right now... all excellent games, but not sure if you mean only magazines that were around at the height of the Amiga.

Galahad would probably say Blob from Core, as he apparently unlocked the full game from the demo!

The Blues Brothers wasn't actually free though, you had to pay £8 to unlock it (£4 went to charity though). On the PD side I loved was Croak! from AF#35 and Squigs from AP#29 (or 28), though one was a barely-updated Frogger clone (first one I'd ever played - sign of a deprived childhood?) and the other was just Columns with the columns replaced with cutesy creatures - but both great fun.

Commercial game wise;

No Second Prize - The One Amiga
Lamborghini American Challenge - CD32 Gamer

I would put TFX but I don't think slideshows count as a 'game' lol

I remember Balance of Power on AF23 being a full release. Also on the same magazine was a PD game called DriveIFF where you could load an IFF file as a track to drive round.

This was the first AF I bought when I got my A500 in '91.

Purple Saturn Day, Amiga Action issue 21 June 1991: http://amr.abime.net/issue_94

This was one of the first games that I played on the Amiga, truly amazing, cool and cosmic, and a full game. And the logo of the developer Exxos, the dramatic music, and the unique graphical style of this game would stay forever in my mind...to me this game still represents the spirit of the Amiga at it's purest form.

I still play this game now and then, and it's probably my favourite Amiga game of all time. The golden road guarded by those metal Exxos heads in the beginning screen, combined with the awesome music...back then this was the day when at the age of 7, I was initiated to the cult of Amiga.

Great replies, thanks!

Master484 thats a wonderful story! I have never heard of that game but will have to try it out. Its amazing they gave it free in 1991 becuase it was released commercially in 1989!
