Hi Toni,
thank you again for your work on the serial connection to play lotus 2 with a splitscreen.
But is it possible to do the same with two pc ???
Using a direct ip connection ??

This topic has been mentioned many times..

It is possible but it is not going to work with Lotus 2. It requires sub-millisecond latency (same "problem" with most serial link action games). Games that are designed to work with modem connection will work.

Well interesting one this.

It is possible to connect a WinUAE to Amiga to play this (as per this video: [ Show youtube player ]

"1. Connect serial cable (null modem) Amiga and PC
2. Run the Amiga and PC
3. WinUAE run on a PC, load the game Lotus
4. In WinUAE choose the option Host - Serial Port COM1 and disable RTS / CTS
5. Turn Lotus on the Amiga and PC (WinUAE)
6. Select the option to link Lotus and play ...

Be sure to set the same serial port on the Amiga and PC (bps, parity, bytesize, stopbit, flow control)."

The other possibility is connecting 2 running emulation on PC with 2 instances of WinUAE (this works as I have done it).

I am not sure how it would work as 'direct' connection since I basically do this via using a virtual serial port using ELTIMA Virtual Serial Port software configured as follows:

ELTIMA Virtual Serial Port (COM1->COM2)
ELTIMA Virtual Serial Port (COM2->COM1)

The above basically lets me use 2 different serial ports but in effect I have them 'connected'

and linking the 2 instances together. For example:

WinUAE 1: Virtual COM1 (WinUAE serial settings RTS/CTS ticked but everything else unticked)
WinUAE 2: Virtual COM2 (WinUAE serial settings RTS/CTS ticked but everything else unticked)

Then I start the game and click network game and viola! It is linked!

Now to get this over internet (given that you need low latency I guess over LAN may work?) you could try: HW VSP3 - Virtual Serial Port (https://www.hw-group.com/software/hw...al-serial-port) to configure the same by binding the virtual COM port to your IP.

Good luck, and let me know how you fair! I will probably try this at some point myself but will need access to another computer to do so.

Toni - I have mentioned this before, but is there anyway to make a serial port monitor on WinUAE so I can assess when packets are being sent/received for testing purposes?

but too bad that none of my pc has a serial port !
