Exclamation The bad cracks / 100% working games thread

This thread is for identifying games that cannot be completed due to bad cracking, bad dumps or plain knackered adf's.

If you have finished a game please post all information you can about the version you have completed the game with!

If you think a game might have been badly cracked or is a good crack but the trainer kills it please also post. It is vital as much information is provided as possible and if you can also save a savestate so we can test the crack/images etc..

If you played with real disk please also post here. Anything about bad cracks is of use.

All this information will help the Tosec project to identify the good dumps/bad.

This also warns other members of games they cannot finish because of bad cracks, bad images or other bugs!

Suggested Template:

Super Cars II (1991)(Gremlin)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr HP]

Partly corrupt!
Graphics trash spotted at Easy Level Stage #4 'Nantyr' and Medium Level Stage #4 'Minera', both on upper part of screen.
[edit] yet the game can be played at least in easy level up to level 7 afterwards with no further problems.

Maybe the Nomad-AGA-fixed version is OK.
Speaking of AGA-fixed...

If you have an A500 configuration and play the SC II Skid Row crack, you MUST use any image BUT the non-alt version! The non-alt, according to Toni, is a fix for newer Amigas and will not run with 1 MB total mem!
Easy level is 100% OK with the SKR [a]-version.

[edit2]
Toki (1991)(Ocean)[cr Defjam][t +3 Defjam] is 100% working!
I'm now watching the end screen.

Please check out my old thread about non-working games/bad cracks. Unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment to check the CRCs, etc., but if you have it would be great if you could have a look ?

Also, please note that there is 2 different versions of the Wrath of the Demon Skid Row crack ! Only the later crack works 100%, while the earlier one has some trouble with diskchanges. I am not sure but it might be possible the non-working one doesn't have a trainer either ?!?

You could have linked to your old thread, since in the meantime, I had completely forgotten about where it was located ...

If you use zipped images, you can use WinZIP; WinRAR will show it too.

In WinZIP, you need to enable the CRC32 column in Configurations.
As I've once encountered a user on IRC who still had version 3.x (!!!) from 10+ years ago on his PC (yes I am serious!), I'm just gonna add that you should have at least v8.

Would be useful to know who/if this was cracked.. I'm guessing they missed a protection/checksum on doh island!

edit: just booted it and it is done by VF :O

So will need to test the images from the other VF cracks.. quahappy can you post a savestate to the zone pls?

edit2: just read the post by quahappy properly.. says Vision Factory there

Semms to make no difference.. looks like I'm gonna have to play it sometime from the start with another VF version.. You don't happen to have a savestate from before the level was loaded do you?

Unfortuantely not....wish I had now though!

When you say it seems to make no difference, do you mean its working?!

Would it help if I uploaded to The Zone the RI adf as well?

No it crashes the same.. which means the badness had already been loaded..

I need the game save before the level data is loaded so we can determine if it is a bad crack or a dodgy disk image (which I know suspect)

Hmmmm.... I've an hour to spare this evening (kids permitting), so I'll have a crack at it again.

This time I'll ensure to make several savestates at different stages of the game and keep notes.

Will post laters....

Got there in the end.....

Uploaded to the Zone are three savestates.

File RI12 is level 12 on Monster Island after defeating the boss.

File RI13 is level 13 on Toy Island. As you will see the graphics are corrupt but by moving your character to the right, you disappear off-screen, then the screen scrolls to the top and auto-completes.... weird.

Level 14, 15 and 16 within Toy Island play fine with no glitches.

But, the most important savestate of all is...
File RI16bossbeat, is self-explanatory....

Then on loading Doh Island, at the start of level 17, the game goes tits up and crashes.

Let me know how you get on....

Game: Flashback
Cracker: Decade
Trainer: -
Files & CRC/MD5:
Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr DCD](Disk 1 of 4).adf (8106CA6B)
Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr DCD](Disk 2 of 4).adf (01696FE2)
Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr DCD](Disk 3 of 4).adf (19C7CD0C)
Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr DCD](Disk 4 of 4).adf (6C2F6DFB)
Notes:
On Level 5 (Disk 3) you first pickup the Tele Controller and the Tele Receiver. As soon as you use the Tele Controller a code protection screen appears. Unfortunately this has not been cracked. From memory you should encounter another code protection screen on either Level 6 or Level 7 (Disk 4). I'm sure that this is also not cracked...
