Looking for Amiga 3D Software

Hi all,

I am trying to find some of the Amiga 3D packages I used to use, specifically Imagine and Lightwave. Does anyone know where I can find these (any version - in fact all versions would be great!)? On a similar note - does anyone know what happened to Impulse? I can't find any info on what happened to them.

Thanks in advance,

Origin.

You can find the latest versions on PC:
as LightWave and 3ds max

Maya is also worth checking out.

I use Maya most of the time these days, but I started with Imagine on the Amiga and then moved on to Lightwave. I want to find the original versions so that I can rebuild (on winuae) the Amiga 3000 I used to use.

I have also been searching for Lightwave (3.5+). I've searched for years. There's no way to buy it and it seems nobody has it (it was damn expensive software).

I can't even find Cinema 4D (exact name eludes me at the moment) even though it was included free on CU Amiga coverdisks.

So if anybody knows where to find good Amiga 3D software, please let me know too. (I own the older Sculpt 4D already)

I'll upload a few 3D packages (Lightwave 5.0/5.1, Cinema 4D 4.x, Imagine 5.13 68K/5.15 PPC) to the Zone in the next few days. If people want other packages (e.g. Aladdin 4D, Real 3D, Tornado 3D), then let me know.

I always wanted to try Tornado 3D. Did they make it for PPC Amigas in the end? And is it fast?

@mr_a500
No probs! Lightwave's been upped. Tis 4am here, so the others will have to wait for another day.

@X-ray
Never tried Tornado 3D. IIRC it has PPC support, but don't quote me. Faith's .nfo file mentions nothing about specs, but makes the comment about it being buggy on CyberGraphX systems. I guess it's a matter of trying it for yourself. Let me know if you want me to up it.

Isn't this warez as Lightwave is still being developed? (although for another platform)

Well... as much as you can do with the amiga version, it is pretty much a nostalgia tool, compared to any recent version.
But yes, technically you are right.

I think the question that needs to be asked is whether Lightwave is still being developed for the Amiga and is it a money-earner for existing Amiga retailers. The answer is no, it hasn't been developed for some time and off-hand I can't remember (m)any Amiga retailers selling it still (although there are a lot of Lightwave add-on products that are still being developed/supported and sold by retailers). Also, I imagine that the last Amiga version of Lightwave must be lacking quite a few features of the current PC version, so I doubt it would damage PC sales.

However, if RCK or any of the moderators want to remove the Amiga version of Lightwave from the Zone, then I've got no quibble.

@X-ray
Oki doke.....will try to put it in the Zone tonight.

I'm not judging by the ethics, which I can't and should not being a warez user myself. I'm only surprised to see this thread and worried for eab.

Dr. Bong, could you please upload cinema4d and/or aladdin4d to the zone? It would be great!

Anybody know the minimum system requirements for Tornado 3D, Cinema 4D and Aladdin 4d?

I'm hoping it's similar to Lightwave where you can render high colour images to file but the program can use low colour screens (ECS).

I used to use Cinema4D on an 8-colour screen and output to file (TIFF) at resolutions in the order of 4000x3000 (for making posters). You should have no problem with Cinema4D in terms of display, but you really should have an FPU and a decent processor & RAM or you'll be waiting looooooooong for renders.

Excellent. That's just what I was hoping. I'm not planning on doing huge renders. I just wanted to play around a bit.
