How do screenshots prove if a game is bad?

The game Brataccas, how could people even think it looked good way back then, in 1986?... I'm sure there were much better looking games back then... lol, check the graphic score:

Look carefully at the screenshot. This one looks muuuuch better than the original ingame graphics. I'm pretty sure they didn't played it and trusted the publisher ads.

Simple! I patched Brataccas because I was sent the original to install but I was never sent Wipe Out! Sometimes it is fun patching utter crap like Brataccas because you get to see what the code is like. And I don't play those games after patching unless bugs turn up with the slaves.

That Brataccas screenshot clearly has more than 4 colours which is all the Amiga version has. Maybe a faked screen in DPaint or something at the time!

I had never played Yolanda, but I fired it up now and you're right. It's garbage. 9 Lives is an incredibly slow, tedius and buggy ARC game aswell!

You can't survive longer than 10-30 seconds in Yolanda. The James Pond series from the same programmers were much better.

But i like "The Games Machine" review:

There is no "feeling" in game-control. It feels like the character you are controlling is just a random sprite. It's very hard to explain this "feeling" thing but if you compare it to games like Super Frog, or Yo! Joe and the way the characters act in the game depending on how you move them around...you feel more "feedback" in controls while Turrican is just very...dull...

Oh, you really should hide in the forest !

I've played zillions of platformers... love them! It's hard to point out a bad one (let alone three) but... how about The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants?
Man that game sucked.

Bart has a nice feeling on the 2 first levels, right after you see that this game
was made in haste. Gameplay is horrible, and graphics sucks....as does Bart vs
the world....

I didn't think Bart vs the Space Mutants was that bad either, to be honest. Not the best game ever by any means but pretty good fun. But yeah, Bart vs The World was very poor.

most amiga games coming from the ST had bad playability, and bart VS SM
was one of them. Bart is as heavy as an anvil....

Worst Platformers (that I've played)

1. Rick Dangerous
2. Brataccas
3. Yolanda
4. Tin Toy Adventures

Yup, I put Rick on top for the exact same reason everyone who put Kid Gloves on top. To be a rebel just for the sake of it.
