Tilemap Designer for Blitz Basic
I am currently playing around with hardware scrolling a tiled screen in Blitz and have got some code working. Before I spend time making a simple map editor, does anyone know of one that works with Blitz? I'm not looking for anything flash and would probably prefer to load the tilemap into an array which could also be used for collision detection. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sorry, missed this before!
There is an editor with the Blitz Support Suite called REDMapEditor so you may want to try that first. It generates source code so you can display maps in your programs and I think comes with an example or two anyway. It's an easy enough program to use and comes with decent instructions so worth giving a go. |

Excellent - thanks once again Graham! Not having to write my own means I can spend more time on my next game. By the way, downloaded Downfall and played in my A1200, fun game and want to try 2 player mode with little Hav. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments Hope you enjoy the two-player mode.
I have never been bothered with writing my own map editor so the RED one is a godsend to me. I'm using it in my current project which is a flip-screen game - I've never used it in a scrolling game so not too sure how exactly it would work in that environment but it's probably not too tricky to work out. |

Had a quick look. Interface looks ok - just need to play around with the example code.
