weird thing with Scout (WB3.1) + OS4.0 partitions
I just discovered this "funny" thing. I've created a couple of FFS partitions on OS4.0 and these show on my 3.9 Workbench fine, but on my 3.1 Workbench only the main OS4.0 partition shows up. BUT the rest of the 4.0 FFS partitions somehow pop up when i launch Scout and click on "mounted devs". Next reboot...all but the main partition are gone again.
Any explanations? Last edited by Bamiga2002; 14 September 2009 at 14:45. |

The volumes also show up when i launch PFS3Ud and it scans the harddrives in the system.

I'm thinkin could this be related somehow to AfA_OS?

As thomas recently told me "AfA_OS causes all sorts of issues".....

I rather think that this is some sort of 4GB problem. Probably these partitions are above the 4GB border and the 3.1 system runs IDEfix from startup-sequence.
At the start of the boot process 3.1 cannot read the partitions because scsi.device is not able to. IDEfix replaces scsi.device but does not remount partitions. Scout or pfs3ud try to access the partitions which causes them to remount and thus appear. Something like this. |

Seems logical Thomas. Is there a remount line that can be added to SS or US Sequence?

I'm not sure about that. One would have to investigate more detailed what is really going on. Perhaps a simple diskchange dhx: would do.

DiskChange didn't help the cause. Now if there'd be a single command to do this re-mounting. Maybe making ata.driver resident will help this.

Yep making ata3.driver resident did the trick . Now there's and extra reboot at the first cold boot but trade one thing to another.

You could try the SplitDiskMount command from http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.de/splitdisk.lha
It works similar to the Mounter program which comes with OS 3.9 but has no GUI. |

Tip noted . But here's another:
Deduct 1 reboot and use "ata3.driver" as a module with BlizKick or similar kick-tool! Worked and all drives show on WB. Remember to remove RESIDENT from ata3.driver commandline. |

Idefix works similarly with BlizKick, plus no need for command lines in S-S.
