Trouble installing AmiFTP dependency classact33
After installing the class act (version 33) dependency for AmiFTP, and installing AmiFTP, when I run AmiFTP I get the error:
Quote:
Thanks! Edit: the source in the docs for classact is: ftp://ftpw.warped.com/pub/amiga/classact But I don't have the authentication credentials. Last edited by TenLeftFingers; 02 June 2015 at 00:00. |

there is a classact install guide by Paul (The Green Amiga Alien).
incl. a download of classact2demo.lha . this includes: layout.gadget 42.54 (7.5.97) give it a try. edit: I found the classact33.lha, it seems they are more or less the same files, some nerver version. is it possible you simply missed to place the files in the correct location? Code:
classact33.lha/Classes/* -----------> libs: classact33.lha/Prefs/caprefs --------> c: classact33.lha/Prefs/ClassAct -------> sys:prefs/ classact33.lha/Prefs/ClassAct.info ---> sys:prefs/ Last edited by emufan; 02 June 2015 at 02:04. |

I've tried extracting classact33.lha again, but I'm not seeing the same contents. Quote:
![]() Thanks, Edit: I've just tried installing the demo as described in the How to, but I get the same result. Is there an FTP client for 68k that doesn't have any dependencies or has more friendly ones? Last edited by TenLeftFingers; 02 June 2015 at 18:33. |

ClassAct33 ist there: http://aminet.net/package/dev/gui/classact33
As far as I can see you can just extract it to SYS: so that Classes goes into Classes and Prefs goes into Prefs. Do not install classes into Libs! Make sure that you have only one version of each file in your system. Storing different versions of the same file in different locations is not a good idea. |

I'm sure, Thomas is right. i also have SYS:Classes with subfolders gadgets and images.
cannot say why i had them in libs: so skip the demo and follow Thomas' advice ![]() |

Thanks guys, I'll do that. First I'll have to remove the file's I've been sprinkling around my system before I posted here
![]() Edit: It's not downloading at the moment. Both my browser and wget just hang on 'connecting'. I'll try again later. Last edited by TenLeftFingers; 03 June 2015 at 11:39. |

Try again. Aminet balances downloads across mirrors. One mirror is not responding. If you try again immediately another mirror is choosen. You can also select one mirror instead of random in the settings.

It still wouldn't work after about thirty attempts but the admins very kindly sent it to me by email. I'll have a go at it soon and update the thread.

(software failure error #80000004). just try GUI-FTP from aminet. this looks nice and it does work. read Docs/Install.guide before starting the program, you need to copy some files. |

But the Readme doesn't have installation instructions. The docs drawer has things like bsdsocket.doc, protocols.doc etc .. and the help drawer has an RPC.guide which details compilation .. do I need to compile this to install it? |

No, it doesn't. All current TCP/IP packages are compatible with AmiTCP (Miami, Genesis, Roadshow). So if you have network access, you can just use it.
Quote:
If you search for AmiTCP 3.0b2 you'll find three packages: http://aminet.net/search?query=amitcp+30b2 The api package contains only information for developers. The src package contains the source code of AmiTCP. The bin package is what you need as a user, it contains executable programs. But be warned, setting up AmiTCP is not a trivial task. i could only test it with WinUAE, wich comes with build in tcp/ip functionality (no need to install miami or AmiTCP).
after starting gui-ftp it ask for volume AmiTCP - i simply cancel'ed the requester and it did work. do not install amitcp if you already have miami or another tcp/ip package installed. |

thomas, emufan, Well, I've paid for Roadshow because I was told it was the easiest route and an efficient application. Can I skip AmiTCP then?

What happens , when you start Gui-Ftp? did you copyied the eagui.library to libs: folder ? and renamed one of the gui-ftp programs? for example: rename Gui-FTP_30+81 to Gui-FTP ( use this, if your amiga is equip with 68030 and math co-processor ) after renaming you can change the window of the gui-ftp directory to show icons ( workbench menu ) so you can start the program with the associated icon. if so, if done the above, what happens when you start the program ? good news. follow Thomas' advice, to get rid of the nag requester
![]() since i missed it before as well: when you add a ftp site to Config-->Phonebook switch on "Save on menu" - doing so, you can choose the ftp site from main menu "Connections" - without opening the phonebook again. "Save Password" is also usefull. |

[ERROR] connect() failed & therer are no more addresses [ERROR] Cannot open connection to 192.168.0.10 Error - unknown host ftp://192.168.0.10 Code:
Site: ftp://192.168.0.10 User ID <username of local user on the server machine. |
