non HD resolution compatibility on PC games?

was wondering if its possible to know if a title is compatible also with non HD resolutions

i mean whatever PC game released after 2008/2010, until the latest ones

i see someones i have tried still have this possibility, like ie Max Paine 3 (800x600)

Just had a quick look an even Metro Exodus from 2019 can go as low as 800x600, so I'd say that most games still support it.

Edit: System Shock Remake from this year only goes down to 1024x768.

its a bit randomly, sometime the game shows 1280x720 as min resolution in options, but you can try to go lower editing the config saving generated after the first play

i suppose the 640x480 was dropped around that period?
i'm just reusing a big monitor/screen non HD with a VGA connection

i have used it back in the day with the same vga input with an xbox360
i still remember to have played ie Project Gotham Racing 3 on it
for being 'just' 640x480, still was awesome

800x600 is working too, 1024x768 seems not

EDIT the image displayed on screen is still great as i remembered

Really not sure about that, but between 2005 and 2010 sounds plausible.

Unravel (2016) still goes down to 640x480 in options

it does start in that mode at first boot in reality
