I really wonder why this should be the case. Both do not need to emulate the CPU, but "only" need to patch MacOs. Then it depends mostly on the configuration, i.e. whether you have a file disk or a full partition, or whether you have an RTG graphics card or use native Amiga planar output. Without additional hardware, screen refresh through MuEVD is as fast as it gets without room for much improvement, and with an entire partition set aside for MacOs, IO speed is only limited by the hardware speed and not a function of the software.

DamienD asked me to post this:
No idea where to get the CD-ROM version from... both Macintosh Garden and Macintosh Repository only have the floppy disk version. This means no voices. The game works fine except that saving / restoring is flaky; just use Save States. You can now find the complete installed package on the TURRAN FTP under /~Uploads/DamienD/HDFs |

Thanks, but the version you've linked to is the PC version running via DOSBox. Damien was talking about the "native" Macintosh CD-ROM version.

I just tested the floppy version of gabriel night on shape shifter, fusion 3.1 and Basilisk ii on windows
the game works but there are music issues in all these emulators the game contain 3 drivers to install, but only one of them works , the other 2 don't the MT32 driver not works because none of such emulatos have a link to make it to work Conclution: The mac version o Gabriel Night is very buggy and there is no MAC emulator which make it to work correctly if you plan to play this game I recommend it to play on DOSBOX + MT32 music forget the MAC version |

That depends on the connected midi device and taste. Both GM and MT32 compositions are same as in the DOS version. Any more mundane questions?
