bsdsocket.library / DietPI / Amiberry
Been working thru getting this config on an RPi4 with good success so far, although I can't seem to get bsdsocket.library to work.
I've enabled it in Amiberry, although it appears greyed out when I look at it in the UI in Amiberry (when running) ; loaded the Roadshow demo inside my 3.2 disty installed, have ppp-ethernet.device and ppp-serial.device in Dev:Networks but when I do a ping to 1.1.1.1 i get unknown protocol icmp not sure what i've missed in my journey here any tips / pointers very welcome. |

if you are using bsdsocket.library emulation then you don't need a tcp/ip stack installed. you don't need to be concerned with network drivers or any such like. it's all handled by the bsdsocket.library emulation - make sure you don't have a bsdsocket.library in libs: as the emulator creates this virtually

thanks @phantasm
i pulled out bsdsocket.library, restarted to make sure it wasnt resident and still get the same error when doing a ping to 1.1.1.1, ICMP unknown protocol. if i try things like configurenetinterface etc it tells me that bsdsocket.library 4.1 does not support the interface config method used by this program, its almost like OS3.2 doesn't like the version of amiberry i have installed (4.1.5) with its bsdsocket.library emulation. i might try upgrading to v5 of amiberry and see. |

like tcpdump - tried that also. complains about the bsdsocket.library 4.1 not supporting it
hmmm but these commands came with roadshow. as there are no native tools are there other tools i should use instead for network related things? |

you're absolutely right all, it works, i just downloaded Aweb and it browses the web (sort of) ; odd am used to troubleshooting a network stack which you simply can't do with the implementation of bsdsocket.library in emulation.
thank you all very much for hearing me out and helping |
