Is this a real 68060 Rev 6?
Hi All, I have bought an 060 Rev 6 (supposedly) on ebay from a seller in the USA called AmbleIndustries17. I was wondering, is there anyone reasonably local to me in Brighton who I could send it to and who would be willing to check it out for me please? I have a nagging feeling it is a fake. Hope the pic loads ...

Sounds like you don't have an accelerator for it yet? |

Hi eXeler0, I bought this for sending off to CS Labs for a Warp 1260. It was listed as brand new and there were 5 available. I went by the Mask believing it was a rev 6 but have since heard of so many stories of these being fake. This is why I am asking if anyone out there is able to test it for me and run Which Amiga? To see which version it really is.

It stands a chance. The date code is 2002 by 2004 the chips were branded Freescale.
As previously said the text in the lower left is usually a different colour and font because it is engraved not printed. |

Maybe bigger question if this is a full 060. Last time I bought a 60 MHz one it was a fake without fpu.

I've never seen Motorola chips marked "MC68060RC60" that were not fakes. They DID make them. But they must have been in very small quantities. Good luck. |

Not sure how they tested / rated CPUs back then, I have a 50MHz rev 6 that has been overclocked and running at 66MHz for the last decade -ish and never a problem, so why is it only a 50MHz part? who knows.. |

I have a rev6 MC68060RC60, which isn't really any different than a rev6 MC68060RC50 in the other Warpengine.
I have some EC 66MHz parts too which surprisingly don't really like to run at 80MHz. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 08 September 2022 at 04:30. |

This is the ebay page - still listing them. It really all does look genuine to me, it is just the fact that the printing is all in white. I know Freescale did that, but I thought Motorola used a green dot for example, to the left of the M symbol?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/25487790202...YAAOSwX9VfQTCC By the way, I did not pay that amount! I bought this processor a while ago but with Covid I put my plans to send it to CS Labs on hold. |

At least for the 060, one can detect by software which version it is, and whether it is a full or restricted version. The cpu command 3.1.4 or later will identify the revision of the CPU for you.

Thank you! I do not have an accelerator board to pop it into to check though, as this was purchased to send off to CS Labs for a Warp 1260. This is why I am asking if anyone would be willing to test it for me if I send it via a courier (within the UK)?

I wouldn't support that scalper even if it was the most genuine 060 ever produced |

Oh my, he is selling them 932 USD!
Those cpu were selling 70 EUR on the second market in 2012. You should hurry to test it on a socketed compatible board. |

I would bet that it is a fake. I have never seen a real chip with all of the printing in the same color.
