Scrolling is smooth for me...are you running on Amiga or emulator? If on emulator are you running at 50 hz with v sync? Smooth for me on emulator as well.

When robocod gets up to top speed the scrolling can't keep up and stutters.
If playing under emulation I believe this goes away if you enable immidiate blits.

BTW If you're running emulation, use the A1200 version...

One of my favourite games this one. Can’t say I noticed much slowdown whilst playing either. Always looked and played great to me.

Looks like a 25fps game with all the blurring/ghosting when the game scrolls. The hand over hand action over dangerous spikes is indeed a jerky effect.

edit: just checked with the refresh indicator in WinUAE. The frame rate fluctuates. Normal running seems stable 50fps scrolling, but jumping/standing on platforms shows a 25fps scrolling. The AGA version though seems stable 50fps all the time. Except this hand over hand action mentioned above.

All the Robocod titles are great! Although ZOOL and Superfrog were better.

I wonder how many more Amiga titles are going to be presented to newer console players, that do not know their original source?

The AGA version is quite different. Was released app. 1,5 years after the OCS/ECS version. Different level design, newer level parts, the music sounds clearer, a new end sequence.

The OCS version is the one I tend to play more, 'cos of nostalgia. The AGA version may be technically superior but it just doesn't resonate as much, emotionally speaking.

Also, I feel that some of the background graphics on the AGA version are distracting and not needed at all. It seems they're just there to "justify" the AGA "upgrade" and serve no real propose at all. Many games that were "upgraded" to AGA suffered from this, it seems.

The OCS -> AGA transition wasn't as smooth as we all wanted it to have been... James Pond 2 is just a mere example out of many.

The classic ones yes. The remakes done for DS and playstation platforms in the last decade... not so much. The level design just doesn't come close.
