Games by CRIONICS? (and TV appearance video)

This video triggered my curiosity:
[ Show youtube player ]

They talk about game development... What games did Crionics make? What was the name of Crionics as a game developer? The TV footage mistakingly shows Turrican 2.

They made some games on Sega Megadrive as ZYRINX (Sub-Terrania, a very nice Thrust-clone, and Red Zone which was an overhead helicopter sim (clone of another game I don't recall right now, but with a much better 3d-ish engine). They also made some Sega Saturn + Dos/Windows games as part of the company SCAVENGER.

I believe 1 or more of them went on to work for Shiny Entertainment, and worked on Messiah and some other popular games around 1999-2000 time, I don't know what happened to them after that!

wow, at the time i thought the demoscene was underground, but you guys on TV.. spoils it, also... at least reading the text, it felt like you made Turrican 2 ... not true or some sort of trade secret.. and when pressed you didnt want to want to talk about your games, again trade secret or simply you only copied then at parties???

At the very beginning. I know it's a routine from Total Destruction, but considering that it pretty much looks like Vertical Insanity which had just been released a few months before, what are the chances that they didn't reverse-engineer this code?

Yeah, right... Because Alcatraz bars are incredibly hard to code and Crionics never had any good coders.... I'm sorry but sometimes I'm really out of words. Besides, you didn't mention that with any word in your first post but that just as an aside.

It takes a good coder to reverse-engineer stuff. Amiga demos seem to be plagued with copy-paste routines. They probably learned how to do it from them because there was nothing like it before. I downloaded a transcription for an interview with someone from the scene explaining this, but I'm having trouble finding it.

If you had remembered the demo, you would have figured it out without asking. I think it was rather self-evident.

Aha, so according to you I didn't remember the demo and the routine is stolen from Vertical Insanity. Awesome logic there my friend! Where did Vertical Insanity steal the routine from then, Alcatraz Megademo 3?
The only thing that is rather self-evident here is that you don't have a clue what you are talking about!

Sorry pal but that's barely 4 sparse colours and not even vertical. You should have known better.

Of course, they are indeed not vertical...

I bow down, your superior knowledge of Amiga demos is really amazing! This even makes it possible that the Total Destruction routine is ripped from Vertical Insanity even though the code is completely different. You are my hero, really.

I was talking about the horizontal colour bars during the Mickey Mouse scene, and these you mention don't look anything like Vertical Insanity's. Whether or not the code is entirely different, that I cannot tell, but to say that they couldn't have inspected or even copied someone else's code, is only wishful thinking.
