FIXED: Blob (Unpacked incorrectly)
I tried to load Blob and got the message that it couldn't find the file osemu.400.
So I looked around for the most recent version of osemu.400 I could find, which was 1.70, and put that in the data directory. But then it quits back to WB after showing the WHDload splash screen. The version form the older packs works fine. |

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong...
I just unpacked Blob to my HDD and it runs fine. It has osemu.400 in the data folder. I checked my C dir before hand and removed the version of osemu.400 on there. Worked fine. |

OK I think I've had a problem with the unzipping process. I was going to post that the icon file and slave from Bards Tale are missing but looking back at the original archive they're all there. Thanks for checking up on that.
What do use to unpack zips on a real Amiga? |

I generally use DOpus 4 which is setup to use UnZip 5.42
Sometimes I use Voodoo-X which I think also uses UnZip 5.42 Both are from the ClassicWB FULL setup. |

Thanks for the tip, I suppose this thread can be closed or renamed now as it's a bit of a red herring.

I was using unzip 5.42 on the shell on classicWB full, but I did the unzipping in winuae with some pretty unusual settings (68030, JIT, Z3 fast ram) so I'll try again with it set up more like a normal A1200.
BTW thanks for all your hard work compiling this stuff. The consistency with the filenames, icons, etc is all appreciated. |

VoodooX, like many GUI Archivers, has unreported issues. It uses the XADmaster library for decompressing, but doesn't recreate empty drawers.
I also think it doesn't preserve original file dates. I've listed these issues on the ClassicWB "Bugs" page years ago, but even forgot myself recently. Dopus is always the best best, as it uses the shell commands and not XAD. Even then we found out (remember KG?) 68020 versions of LZX were buggy and corrupted occasional files, that's why I always use 68000+ versions now in the packs. It's a nightmare! Just trying to find reliable GUI archivers! I'm removing VoodooX's double click support from the next ClassicWB release and replacing it with WizArc, using known good shell extractors. I've extensively tested and it seems to be issue free, apart from not overwriting pre-existing files. This shouldn't pose an issue 99% of the time. Reason? I spent ages wondering why KG's WHDload Pinball Fantasies wasn't working, before remembering VoodooX's "issues". Turns out it hadn't re-created some empty but essential drawers in "Prefs". Rule of thumb - use dopus if your unpacked game has a problem. |

Ah yes I remember the lzx problems well!
I've just taken a look at my Amiga setup and realised I didn't mean VoodooX at all! I meant WizArc, I used to use it all the time when I first started using ClassicWB, then I realised how simple (and awesomely setup) DOpus is in your setups. You've got a classicWB fan for life here mate! |
