20 ZX Spectrum Games You Must Play

Well years after I recorded the video "20 Amiga games you need to play" for those who have just bought an Amiga ( [ Show youtube player ]), I finally got round to doing a ZX Spectrum one.

Obviously these are my own personal choices but I'm sure you'll agree there's some real crackers in this video that love ZX games like myself, I hope you enjoy it

Thanks a lot. I love watching/having compilations from different tastes, companies, themes, years, etc, etc.

2 bitmap brothers games in your amiga list, that's not enough but that's already good.

Chaos Engine is pure genius.

Checking your ZX list now. I discovered the ZX spectrum in 1985 (holidays in england) and never saw a real one since

But I was amazed at the quality and the depth of the games compared to the ones on Oric...

Seems that I know almost none of the games in your list (very impressive games technically wise, probably because some were made with modern cross compilers and such).

The ones I remember were classic games like "Alien 8", then "Everyone is a wally" and "Sabre Wulf" (none of them is on your list though)

Good list of games, most are worthy top 20, especially Hypersports as that was some achievement back then, Imagine totally captured the arcade game with that.

If I was to revise your list id swap Chaos for Dynamite Dan II and sneak Scuba Dive in there somewhere!

Those are some great games. Just goes to show; good gameplay makes for good games, everything else is a nice glaze.

Any ZX Top 20 list which doesn't include Skool Daze, Saboteur, Hobbit, Turbo Esprit, Knight Lore, Movie, Lords Of Midnight, Renegade, Chuckie Egg, and at least 2 Julian Gollop games (in no particular order) is automatically invalid

Disclaimer: imo

There are some amazing newer games on the speccy, I especially like the ones using multicolour mode. This one looks like it could almost be an SMS game:

And of course the holy grail magic of the super mario port:

The scene is more alive than it's ever been, I love it.

If you like to see some fav.. games of mine on the Speccy I made a few vids.
All these games are of more recent date. Even if I loved Manic Miner etc. back in the day when I had Speccy 48k the games they are doing now is another level I think.

All the vids. I made are from real hardware and Commodore 1081, CRT monitor.

The best game done for ZX Spectrum I think is "Alien neoplasma" Search the game up. I have not made a video of that game.

I like the whole Horace series. Horace and the spiders, very good. I also played Beachhead, Automania and Commando very often. I think Commando is better than on C64 because of high resolution. On the real machine I had Mexico86, but I never got that as a snapshot. It's just gone forever. Now I only got matchday as soccer game.

I just think it's strange that you use EAB to shill your YouTube channel, but your profile says you're not an EAB supporter. That must be a mistake.

I second Skool Daze.

Was back to Skool released on the Spectrum also?? That's the sequel.

Also another vote for Scuba Dive.
