IFF Converter cutting off bottom of image

Hey folks,

Can anyone tell me why IFF converter keeps cutting off the bottom of my images? The dimensions are correct, plus I've checked in both PSP and PPaint that the image is the right height and width before I converted it from a PNG, but it keeps happening, and it's driving me nuts.

Link to a picture below for reference, and as you can see, his feet are cut off, and if I save this as a RAW file, it stays this way if I import it into my code for blitting.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/16iD...ew?usp=sharing

Thanks!

What happens if you make the height 64?

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the same thing happens.

what are the dimensions of the PNG? When you convert the PNG to an IFF, is the IFF correct?

Perhaps increase the dimensions of the source image?

The dimensions of the PNG are the same as the IFF, and the IFF loads correctly in PPAINT. It's just in IFF converter that the problems occur. I increased the height of the IFF to 68 and a little more of the feet started to show, but surely that shouldn't be happening in the first place?

Is it maybe something to do with how the blitter needs an extra word? I thought that was just for horizontal shifting, but I don't know what's happening under the hood with IFF converter.

I can't see any issues with the PNG. I import it to PPaint and save it as a 16 Colour IFF brush, which re-loads back into PPaint fine, but I keep getting this issue with the bottom being chopped off in IFF converter.

The PNG is in the first link below, and the 32x64 IFF is in the second link, so please feel free to have a go, but as I say, it saves fine as the IFF and fully re-loads back to PPaint with no issues.

Maybe I have a glitchy version of IFF converter?

Seems ok with V1.0 of TFAConverter (not sure if this came before or after IFFConverter)

Indeed no problem with the PNG. It does not have anything special, not even transparency which could eventually have caused problems.

It appears you're facing a bug of IFF converter.

The TFA converter was released later than the Kefrens converter and is based on it.

I wouldn't use either of these old converters in this day and age though, my weapon of choice regarding graphics converting has been PicCon for many many years.

Of course. If it works for you and you're happy with it, no reason to change.

I don't like graphics converters that open a hardware screen, such tools should be OS compliant IMHO.

Thanks for all the replies folks.

I guess it's just a bug somewhere in the program, but I appreciate the help in getting to the bottom of it. I'll try some of the programs suggested. I guess Aminet or The Zone is the place to find them?

On that note, I've been considering getting Pro Motion NG as it claims to be able to directly save in a variety of retro friendly formats. Anyone know it that's true? It's be great not to have to hop from PSP to PPaint and then to a Converter.

Used that one for a long time back in the day, very reliable tool. Can't remember that it even crashed once. I stopped using it in 1993 or 1994 I think, when I discovered PicCon.
