Nothing happens when I use the stone or the card with the terminal...

I've finished this game sooooo many times but can't remember exactly what you need to do; it's been many moons... From memory it's pretty straightforward.

Yeah, my memories of it are vague too, but I can't remember anything particularly tricky once you get there with the card and enough time. Are you sure you're trying to fit it in the correct place? Maybe it doesn't fit in the terminal but in another unit on that screen, and the terminal is then used to activate it? Do you have to turn it on with a switch or something after fitting the card maybe?

There are 3 different sockets to insert the card, you have to pick the right one, if I remember correctly.. it's to the most right of the terminal if I am not wrong.

You just choose the card and use the item on the terminal. If it doesn't work do one step to the right and repeat. I remember this isn't really that obvious, but you just try to use it at different positions in front of the terminal, one of them will make it work.

After you use the stone to activate the elevator that brings you down there you don't need the stone anymore.

Exactly, the most right one.

I just thought it would be enough to stand in front of the terminal regardless of the x position.
Also, the four pink objects above the three sockets irritated me.

How to drop a stone just at the position of the player?
Or can stones only be thrown?
Can the player determine how far a stone is thrown?
