Myst CD32 in FS-UAE
Hi.
I am having troubles running this game in fs-uae The game starts to run, as in the cd32 logo then curiously it goes to a screen with a key locking in to a box from the left. After a bit of digging i have found in winuae this setting has to be disabled uaescsi Also setting the cd to SPTI + SCSI works too but i cant see how to do this in fs-uae This is the link to the original forum post that helps my situation apparently if I could work out the equivalent setting in fs-uae http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=25167 I am using an image of the cd not the actual cd by the way Thanks |

Myst is Amiga CD game. Not CD32. It could be installed on CD32 with expansions... As I remember Myst CD isn't bootable. That would explain why do you get key screen. Even if it is you couldn't play it, game is supposed to be installed on hard disk and you'd need at least 8mb of fast ram and faster processor would be recommended.

No, not a CDTV game. An Amiga CD game. That means you need an installed Workbench with CD driver/filesystem. The manual mentions indeed 8 MB fastram minimum, 5 MB harddisk space.

I already have AmigaOS 3.9 set up with this config file
# FS-UAE configuration saved by FS-UAE Launcher [config] amiga_model = A4000/040 cdrom_drive_count = 1 cdrom_image_0 = /media/Stuff/Roms/Amiga/OS/AmigaOS39.iso floppy_drive_count = 2 fsaa = 4 input_grab = 0 kickstart_file = /home/ade/Documents/FS-UAE/Kickstarts/kick31.rom hard_drive_0 = /media/Stuff/Roms/Amiga/OS/System.hdf hard_drive_0_controller = ide0 hard_drive_0_type = rdb hard_drive_1 = /media/Stuff/Roms/Amiga/OS zorro_iii_memory = 65536 uaegfx_card = 1 bsdsocket_library = 1 writable_floppy_images = 1 scanlines = 1 scanlines_dark = 10 scanlines_light = 5 title = Amiga OS 3.9 fullscreen=1 floppy_drive_volume = 0 bsdsocket_library = 1 If i replace this line cdrom_image_0 = /media/Stuff/Roms/Amiga/OS/AmigaOS39.iso with the iso for my myst cd should i be able to install it and adding fast_memory = 8192? |

Well, try it. I have no working test case for this atm. For Fastmem: You already have 64 MB Zorro III ram. Should be enough.

Try it with an Workbench 3.1 System. Install 3.1 on hardfile and try the same as above.
Maybe the game isn't AmigaOS 3.9 compatible |

If the game requires AHI, make sure it uses Paula for output and not "UAE AHI" or similar, as the latter isn't emulated in FS-UAE. Perhaps you just need to configure AHI via prefs to use Paula?
If that does not work, please provide a more specific error message (screenshot). |

BTW. about your earlier FS-UAE settings, as you already had plenty of ZorroIII memory configured, it isn't needed to add any other sort of fast mem. You could also install update for Myst: http://aminet.net/package/game/patch/MYST_v1.1 |

I'm pretty sure Myst uses Unit 0 and that can't be changed. That means you have to check your AHI Unit 0 configuration from AHI preferences. Click the cycle button which reads "Music unit" in your screenshot. It rotates all the units which can be configured, it's a safe bet to configure them all to Paula in your case. These units are just what is available for separate programs to use... if you want to use certain unit, you must configure the programs itself, if they have configuration for it.

jPV, you sir are a genius!
The update and changing the setting to Unit0 made it work great. I just had to change the screen mode in the settings pop up and it runs great. If I had to be picky the sound is a little scratchy but hey it runs now! Thanks very much! |

You probably have very low value on Frequency setting for that Unit 0. Try setting it higher and sound should be more clear. Can't remember just now what I've used on classic Amiga, but lets say 22050 Hz for a start for example.

It could be interesting to see if the audio works better with amiga_model = A1200/020 (if the game can run on that)...
