Best iconset for HiRes screenmodes?

I need to rebuild my A600's setup and I was wondering, what is the best iconset for standard, Hi Res (1:2 pixel aspect ratio) screenmodes?

I don't like using the ones meant for square pixel ratio screens, and it's been a while since I last looked into icons, I bet there's some cool new sets out there.

theres a lot of magic workbench iconsets on aminet for both hires+laced and hires standard, also if your a600 isnt some expanded/enhanced, frankensteined rtg powerhouse then the 8 color magic workbench icons would be more ideal at a guess, their old, tried, tested. If not magic workbench, then maybe glowicons, there isnt anything much beyond MWB and Glowicons for non rtg classic system tbh, not unless you want to try png icons and have them look fugly and run slow and eat memory for breakfast.

I am running some form of GlowIcons at the moment. My A600 can cope (it's not frankenstein to use an accelerator), would like to use something of similar or better quality.
Top be more specific in case I sounded vague, I understand GlowIcons is a "style" of icons made by someone, I wonder if there's others, different, better/nicer ones.

better quality means more colors, more colors means a slower system, esp with no rtg, which is why something like MWB with tis standardised low color palette existed in the first place, there isnt really any higher color variant of it that will be nice and nippy on non rtg setups.

New Icons are not bad, a bit different.

For 200/256 height screens, I've actually become somewhat fond of the simple 4-color icons that ship with OS2.x and OS3.1. Combined with DefIcons you can get a nice-looking system with minimal memory overhead.

There are, of course, tons of 4-color icons out there of varying quality, and you may have to hunt to assemble a full/organized collection of good ones. I just put a disc on the FTP from the former Amiga dealer Creative Computers that has a lot of decent icons.

no it doesn't

I'm amazed there's really not any more collections like Glowicons made for regular screens, heck, Glowicons is super freaking old too.

It takes a lot of work for basically no gain, and nobody was ever up for it after Glowicons.

The problem is, besides Magic Workbench, there's no other collection/style that ever happened for such resolutions. And MWB is even 8 colors, they don't look great in 4.

EAB member ppilz started to make their own collection a while back, but there's only a few icons within. Would have loved to see that taken to the very end.

There's a pirated games Amiga distro (AmigaGames+) that have a rather nice HiRes iconset, but the authors show no interest in distributing its iconset for general use:

Maybe someone could download and install it, an then rip the iconset for us.

simple appearance in classic Amiga style (4-color, hires, nolace)
... unfortunately there are few icons ...

Lame that they're using that, I doubt they have permission from ppill.

Those do look rather cool. Shame that they are only 4 colors.

So I guess there's really no new icon sets for OS 3.x since Glowicons...

iconsets from other sources can be used such as from linux, just needs converting/resized, also depends what you mean by "cool icons" and how many colors you are thinking to use.

Nice find!

Too bad the link doesn't work anymore, and the HiRes set (besides the HiRes Laced one) apparently wasn't ever released.

Why people don't just use Aminet instead?

Send Ppill a message here, I'm sure he'd be happy to sort you out or update that thread with the link.

Yep, those are mine. I guess they just copied them from Comfy. I don't really care...

I'll add a link when I find them.
