Identify please....

I believe, and i may be 100% correct here, and if not let me know.
This is a CPU adapter to allow a 68060 to be used in an A3640 board to upgrade your Amiga 4000?

I don't know anything about who made it, what is limitations are and i'd like to know more as i do have an A3640 untouched ... I even found a 80mhz crystal though i somehow don't think i could push this that far.

It certainly looks like it. The major problem to solve in using a 68060 in place of 68040 was voltage. You see many A1200 accelerators (particularly Apollo) that have had their 68040 removed and now have a 68060 + a 3v3 regulator.

Biggest problem these days will be finding a 68060. Don't buy one unless the seller shows you actual output from a software program that queries the actual chip ID and revision number because almost all for sale from people you don't know, such as those on eBay, are fake.

Thanks.

I have a spare 060, but i'm saving that for a different project (060 into a A1200).

Thanks for the info.

These work, but the 3640 is not an ideal design for even the 040, let alone the 060. You can't overclock very far, as the motherboard is also clocked from the CPU card in this application.

Also keep in mind, these adapters require a patched exec.library in your ROM, you can't use them with a 3.1 Kickstart unless you install one that disables the FPU at power on, until setpatch runs. I think 3.2 Kickstart work just fine for this.

3.1.4 also supports volt socket modded 040 -> 060 boards.
