Obvious rippoffs & clones?

Hey hey!

Everyone remembers the "Great Giana Sisters"-game and how its creators were sued caus it was VERY similar *coughidenticalcough* to the Mario Brothers-game for the nintendo. But how come all those Boulder Dash and Arkanoid clones never got pulled from the market in the same way as Giana Sisters?

Turrican is obviously a mixture between Probotector (the european censoreed version of Contra) and Metroid. Especially the wheel function of Turrican is a direct rip-off from Metroid.

I always thought that Nintendo had gone over the top banning the sale of Great Giana Sisters. That was till I played the game, all they did was replace mario with a Great Giana Sister :

Hm..well yeh now that you mention it. The levels are almost identical to Mario Bros. But still, the arkanoid clones are pretty similar as well.

Nintendo should have ended up in court with a really smart judge who said they couldn't ban sales of Giana Sisters because there was no version of Super Mario Brothers for the Amiga.

That way Nintendo might have released it
