A4000T or A1200T?
In my quest for the Ultimate Amiga, which do you think it is better going for? I am more erring for the A4000T at the moment due to it seeming to have 500 billion expansion slots.
Oppinions on each? |

There's no such thing as a 1200T, I guess you mean a towered A1200 system? If you hook a Mediator o something like that to it, makes no difference, actually, the advantage might be on the 1200's side

A1200T
Was there not a company that produced a system under the monicker of A1200T? Or was that just the name of the tower made by micronik??? hmmz got me wondering now...

Nope, stores sold A1200 inside Micronik Infinitiv towers with the monickers "a1400" , "a1500" and dunno which one else. But not A1200T

I am refering to a manually towered A1200.
Surely the A4000 has more options though with It having Zorro III slots and a Video slot (and PCI as well with a mediator, as without a mediator you end up having 2 video slots and 7 Zorro III slots). It is also better equipted than an A1200 by default with more expansion in mind... |

I think the major difference is the price of accelerators. A second-hand Blizzard 1260 will cost you about £200 from eBay. A Cyberstorm 060 for an A4000 will be closer to £600. The real question is: How much money have you got to throw away?

Irrespective of price though, with expansions, is there anything the A1200 can't do that the A4000 can? Also, can you attach a Mediator, Accellerator AND Zorro Backplane to an A1200 at the same time?

If you ever want to buy a PPC Board for your computer, go and get an A4000T, the PPC 604 CPU on the Cyberstorm are a lot faster than the 603 CPU on Blizzard PPC Boards on A1200
Ok, here´s what I would do : - If you have the money, get the A4000T ! It´s a ready to run system and you do not have any incompatability .... Towered A1200 System may suffer from different parts of different manufacturers that will not work together properly (many people have weird crashes with some Micronik Zorro Boards !!!) .... - If you just want a fast towered and cheap (?) system, go and get you an A1200 in a Tower ..... |

I thought like that because there are more 1200 peripherals created than A4000 ones. Thanks for the correction.

For £300 you can get an 060/PPC card. Anyone who pays any more than £400 is clearly a twat.... |

OK well if you think £600 is the Ebay price for a Cyberstorm 060... I'll sell you TWO for that price and you can make £600 profit.
Its time to put your money where your mouth is Seriously tho... you're well out of touch.. An 060 Cyberstorm on Ebay went for £80-odd pound recently. The days of £600 are long gone. How much U reckon my 4000/030/16mb is worth then? its nice and clean and with KS3.1, Buster 11 and proper HD Floppy. U wanna buy? |

Yeah, you're probably right. I haven't looked for Amiga upgrades on eBay for ages.
How about £20 for the A4000? |

U forgot the smiley (or did he??)
I will sell it soon enough if I get a sensible offer. So far all the offers I have had have been jokey ones like £20 or £50, people chancing on the off chance of selling on for a profit. |

An Amiga 1200 in a tower is normally referred to A1200T because it is in a TOWER!!!!! The T standing for TOWER! ie: POWER TOWER.
-edit- By default, the Amiga 4000 is a way more powerful system than the A1200T. Having said that it is possible to put A4000 cards on an A1200 using a busboard: http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ But like someone said, it may interfere with other cards. I don't know.
