3dfx voodoo 3 3000 pci bios
Hello,
I have a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI Card (BIOS pached for working on a MAC PPC 7300). Does this card will work with Mediator 4000 Di ? or I need to update it's BIOS from a PC (with a PC Bios) ? In this case where I can find it ? (voodoofiles.com?) |

bioses can be found in www.3dfxzone.it , but I have no clue about what will work with a busboard...
I imagine the mac bios is nothing special, maybe it's just to sell them higher for "mac usage" |

Thanks Keropi,
It's very nice to have the first answer from Ioannina :-) Actually I am thinking of upgrading my A4000, replacing the Commodore's Daughterboard with Mediator, for having available PCIs and not ISAs !!! |

I heard long time ago, that was not neccesary changing bioses on the voodoos for using it with mediators.
I have a voodoo3 from a pc on my towered 1200 and didn't have to change the bios. Perhaps another user from this board could explain that matter better. Cheers!!!!! |

It's 040/25 with 16MB Fast. I am waiting for a "processor upgrading" until the release of OS4 and Shark G3/G4 from Elbox (i hope). That's would be a great upgrade (at about 250-300 EUR).
Mediator works well under AmigaOS3.9. So, some PCIs can start working from now on. I have also a V-LAB motion and a Spectrum EGS24 (2MB I think) with this A4000. I am using VLAB motion from my A2000 since 1998 and I have to take it with to this trip :-) Last edited by dir_marillion; 28 February 2006 at 16:29. |

it's a good machine for os3.9, I had os3.9 with a 030/28-AGA and it was good enough for whdload usage...
that pci bus will give you a big boost, especially now that u use an egs24 rtg... as for the sharks/os4 , we can only dream and hope.... lol |

Yes. You need to flash the Voodoo card with PC bios to use it in the Mediator.

only p96 for mediator... just like only cgx for g-rex...
but I think you must choose another card in setup, or something bs like that... better to hear a med user |

If voodoo works with picasso96 drivers I am afraid for the limit of opened windows at the same time, in workbench.
With Zorro2/3 graphic cards (such as Cybervision64 3D (4MB) or Spectrum EGS-24 (2MB)) and with Picasso Drivers 2.0, I see a fast windowing system (at about 10 windows at the same time) on my Amiga 2000 (68060) and AmigaOS 3.9BB2. After that number, the workbench is Slow. It is probably a point of Zorro 2 bus. CGX 4.0 drivers are slower from the begining but you can open as much windows as you want. Strange things. Hopefully, Zorro-3 Bus could give better results over these limits. I also hope that Shark G3/G4 and AmigaOS4 will work well with Zorro cards and our Amigas will turn-on till the day of the Official OS4 Release. Last edited by dir_marillion; 01 March 2006 at 16:25. |

I would like to use CGX4 too, due to draggable screens but speed was too slow for my 1987 machine
