Awesome alternative Kipper! But I need a whole replacement keyboard - which I'll be opting for.

Guess I'm lucky, all my keyboards are in great shape!

Well, regardless of how it was intended, it came across as being overly harsh. I'm unlikely to be the only one to interpret it that way, but fair enough. The problem of things being text only with no facial clues to interpret for intent.

Let me explain this disappointment... it's like running a marathon and just before you cross the finish line, somebody kicks you in the groin with steel toed boots. No wait, that doesn't quite work... It's like a starving man coming out of the wilderness and someone offers pizza, but toppings include rat poison and broken glass.

This doesn't mean I don't think Kipper is doing his best. I'm just disappointed at the outcome. Carry on.

So, to be clear, the keycaps themselves are the part you're unhappy with? I think going forward there will be scope for a board and switches only option, so you can source your own.

Yeah, thats better, not sure which is right, I guess needs printing to scale and checking. Amiga ones are surprisingly larger than most PC keyboards.

What does it look like with size 6 as default and size 9 for letters? a kids toy or pretty good?

Or can you make the small stuff bold? they don't seem to stand out as much as the Amiga unless that's just the screenshot itself. (for example colon/semi-colon key/plus and equal key)

you can click on letters and change fonts/sizes etc

delete the extra key sitting on top of the spacebar lol

It looks like an issue with the app, if I increase size by 1pt those symbols become dramatically clearer.

edit...

This is the best I can do:
Link

I've used 3 different sizes (3, 5 and 7) but I guess it all depends on how that app transfers over into the end product, is it totally accurate? it might look good on screen but terrible in reality?

The app is a bit of a pain, the number keys below the function keys hug the corner at 3pt, go to the middle at 4pt and then back to the corners at 5pt, so it's hard to tell which looks best with them not keeping to the corner.

Wonderful project mate.
I don't know if you are accepting already pre-orders, but might be good say now :P Also will give you an idea of the interested people.

In my case I will need:

1x 1200 keyboard to connect on a regular 1D4 Rev. board;
2x 600 (green membranes) keyboard to connect on a regular 1.5 Rev. board;
1x 500 keyboard to connect on a regular 6.0A Rev. board;
1x External (if you will make one) keyboard to connect on a regular A4000/3000.

With my best regards

It looks exactly the same in JPEG.

This is the closest I can get it by my eyes but will it transfer to the real thing well?
Link

TBH I doubt you can get it exactly perfect through the tool, for example the minus and underscore lengths are opposite compared to a keyboard key and if you switch them around vertical alignment goes out. also 4pt might be a closer match for the top row numbers and rest of the symbols but the numbers/symbols get squashed into the middle and look crap.

Yah, i think the app has a hard time in the PC display resolution for whatever reason

Can they send you examples of the different sizes on a key? you might be able to get a better idea.

edit...

Here is with the font changed to Arial, it seems clearer now and is a better match to the originals?

Link (fixed the underscore key a bit better?)

Would you have to use an open source font though?

I'd try to find out what the legend sizes translate to in millimetres.

Just compared my A1200 keyboard to my HHKB Pro 2 — font is definitely Helvetica, and the size of the lettering is the same as on my HHKB Pro 2 also.

Edit: Actually the lettering is slightly bigger on the A1200, but not by much.
