Anyone knows where to get tank mouse microswitches?

Good morning, Amigans! One of my Amiga "tank-style" mice has a button that is very probably about to die... It hardly reacts to any push

I have been searching for a while, but it seems you cannot get replacement micro switches from any Amiga related site. Amigakit used to sell them, but they are out of stock (see here).

I have found a part over at digikey that seems to be a perfect fit, but shipping costs to Germany are insane for a single part. Has anyone ever tried one of those? Or maybe a pointer to a site in Europe where you can order them? Farnell has them also, but they ship this part from the USA, so shipping costs are insane, too.

Cheers,
Marc

I used to buy them in common electro part shops. These microswitches are just standart ones, cost few cents. Just go to your local shop where they sell wires, capacitors, transistors etc., bring your mouse with you and show them what you want. It is not necessary to browse the internet.

Hi Predseda, thanks for replying The problem with this is that at least in Germany, all of those "around the corner" electro shops have disappeared. There used to be one in my home town, too, but it has closed long ago. At least in Germany, you have to go to a rather large city to find an electro shop as you are describing (selling caps, resistors, diodes, and other parts). So unfortunately, I always have to order from some Internet shop - I would much prefer to go to a close by shop...

I got some last year from Ebay of all places. I need to double check if it was a fluke chance or a proper supplier?

I also made sure that were a good make as I did buy some once before and they lasted all of 5 minutes

I assume you need the square type with flat legs, round push button on the top?

Search for "tactile microswitches" on ebay or any big electronics supplier should have these. Make sure to get ones with the correct height switch cap.

Yup, check how high orignal ones are. I'm not sure if they're 6x6x5 or 6x6x4.3.

I think I used 6x6x5 on mine. Works fine, although I think it's a bit louder than before . You can get a bunch of them cheap on ebay, but problem is they're from China, that defaults to at least two weeks of wait time, plus last few months I got nothing but trouble with packages from China (I'm still waiting on one package from China that was shipped more than two months ago, according to tracking it's been sitting in their customs warehouse since all this time). Tayda electronics is OK, they're from Singapore and while it's not free shipping, at least their packages arrive :P.

Or from some online shop like Mouser?

5mm one
4.3mm one

I don't know how much would shipping cost, when last time I checked shipping significant, at least to croatia :/.

I did some browsing and found this on a German shop:
https://www.distrelec.de/pcb-switch-...1002/209237/en
I'm happy they had an English page!

It seems to be the same as this:
http://www.altronics.com.au/index.as...=item&id=S1120
which I'm almost sure I bought for my tank mouse. I bought it at their physical shop so I don't have a reference email to verify it with.

@Brannigan: AWESOME! Hail to your google skills In the meantime, I figured out what the exact German term for "tactile microswitch" is (it's not in the usual dictionaries btw.) - it is "Kurzhubtaster". Sounds pretty strange in German, but once I figured it out, I found some Internet shops in Germany that sell them. But your link looks absolutely nice - those switches look like high quality ones. Thanks, man!

You can buy it from Reichelt and Conrad (both germany) but shipping cost will increase by a factor of around 50. So, if you need to re-cap your Amigas you could order some caps, too.

Just in case that somebody is interested... I can confirm (just soldered them) that the type of "tactile microswitch" you want to order is 6x6x4.3 mm

The 6x6x5 mm are very probably too high. At first, I did not pinch off the (very tiny) rest of the 6x6x4.3 microswitches' legs and the mouse button more or less got stuck after putting the mouse back together Only after pinching the rest of the legs off, it works nice now. The length of what I pinched off for sure was less than 5mm - 4.3 mm, so that's why I think the 5mm ones won't work.

Cheers

It seems some tank mice use different switches. I just opened one I got recently, left button feels kinda worn out, and it has big switches 12x12x5, just fyi.
