Come on TCD / Shoonay, I know it's difficult but please try to stay on topic. TBH it gets a bit boring reading your personal "off topic" discussions in every thread...

Amiga will never die!
|
I voted for "Buying Originals" since it's the closest option to "Buying New Amiga Games" which would be related to "Creating New Amiga Games". There is still a commercial Amiga games market, however small it may be, there's still a market there, and supporting current and future Amiga development is the most valuable way to contribute to the Amiga gaming scene, whether it be Tales of Tamar, the online role playing game ( http://www.tamar.net/main.php?language=english ), Amijeweled, the addictive puzzle game ( http://www.insane-software.de/web/eindex.php?page=ajrtg ), or WHDLoad, the most important piece of software for enjoying classic Amiga games on real Amiga hardware (and it's also useful in UAE over ADFs in many cases). With more support and more sales/registrations, the developers make and patch more games.

Oh crap, I typed up my post and voted before the extra options were added. Oh well, I think my points are still valid.

@SensibleFan
Just PM some of your EAB contacts, ask 'em to come to visit this thread. If one doesn't think "making remakes" applies, you're lucky (he may not be one of your mates if he doesn't agree with you on that, but that's another story ) Tell him to vote for him, and to add "making remakes" to his choices for you. Then we obtain +1 to making remakes, and you can comment all the way through ! |

in the end, i chose 4 options (god bless the multi-poll!)
Close examination of games mechanisms, disassembling 'em when needed << whdload / level editors etc Distributing ADFs and related resources on web sites, CDs... << keep amiga stuff well distributed Polishing/rediscovering rare/unreleased games << finding unreleased games is as important as making new ones! Developing Amiga software << keep making stuff what runs on an amiga innit?! |

I would also add my vote to "making remakes" option please.
Remakes could not only have better GFX´s than the original games, but could also incorporate some slight changes in the gameplay imho, like new "monsters",better "weapons" and larger levels... I assume that maybe less than 100 games were already sucessfully disassembled? A list of possible game candidates to the remake option could also be made available? I imagine many coders would like to create this remakes but lack the time to do so, their task could be made easier if they could have some help.Some tasks could be shared. I can offer a hand drawing new sprites and backgrounds. |

My options would be:
1 - Preserving Amiga Games 2 - Making Amiga Games run perfectly from HDD on all Amiga systems. 3 - Being able to play these Amiga games on non-Amiga systems. 4 - Being able to play these games from an awesome, streamlined arcade menu system some time in the near future. 5 - Having somewhere to discuss all of the above. |

6 - Provide channels to distribute old games to non-fans to help "market" the amiga scene. If no one is able to procure and experience the programs that made the Amiga unique, then there would be no scene as everyone will flock to the next great new thing. Development of new unique games or killer apps should follow. |

4 ? That would be a poll option made to make your work on KGload, Belg & Elo's Gamebase Amiga stand out, right ? 5 ? Well, for me, that is included in "distributing ADFs on web sites option" |

i voted for buying originals! until i got this laptop less than 2 years ago i was regulary buying amiga games maybe 4 or 5 a year. Before the amiga disappeared from shops in 98/99 i regulary bought games from shops as well. The last receipts i have from shops are from 98/99 after then i used people like amigadeals.co.uk to buy my amiga games.
